The invention relates to a saw blade cover (40) for a bench saw (10), to an angle stop (50) for a bench saw and to a bench saw (10, 20, 30). The saw blade cover (40) comprises a cover body (41) which is manufactured from a first material as well as a contact region (47) which comprises a sliding section (48) which is manufactured from a second material and along which the workpiece (11) can slide on contact with the contact region (47). A miter saw assembly includes a cutting tool configured to perform a cut along a cutting axis. A stop mechanism is linearly translatable in a first direction. A rotary motor includes a selectively rotatable rotor and a motion conversion mechanism configured to transform rotary motion of the rotor to linear motion of the stop mechanism in the first direction. A controller is configured to selectively rotate the rotor to cause linear translation of the stop mechanism toward or away from the cutting axis. A position detection system includes a visual sensor coupled to the stop mechanism and a ruler strip. The ruler strip includes a plurality of spaced apart position indicators configured for detection by the visual sensor in order to determine a position of the stop mechanism relative to the cutting axis of the cutting tool via position correlating perform by the controller.

A chop saw power tool for cutting metal is described. The chop saw power tool has a saw base and a cutting head assembly. The saw base has: a support structure and a workpiece support table having a workpiece support surface to receive a workpiece. The workpiece support table is rotatable in a plane of the workpiece support surface relative to the support structure to select an angle of cut of the workpiece. The cutting head assembly has: a circular cutting blade on the cutting head assembly and an axis of rotation such that the circular cutting blade rotates within a cutting plane arranged in a fixed orientation perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece support surface.
