METHOD FOR OPERATING A SAWLINE AND A SAWLINE
In a method for operating a sawline for logs, the sawline including a conveyor for conveying a log in the sawline, and a processing apparatus for processing the log, the log is fed into the sawline, the log is conveyed onwards in the longitudinal direction in the sawline, the overall length of the log is determined, and the log is guided into the processing apparatus, with which the log is processed at the same time, when the log is conveyed onwards in the sawline. The length of the part of the log that is outside the processing apparatus is determined with a camera apparatus, and the location of the end of the log in the processing apparatus is determined on the basis of the overall length of the log and on the basis of the length of the part of the log that is outside the processing apparatus.

LOG PUSHER
There is provided a log processing assembly including an elongate member. The assembly includes a lifting device which couples to and extends radially outwards from the elongate member. The assembly includes a pair of spaced-apart wall members between which the lifting device extends. The assembly includes an external, radial actuating driving mechanism which operatively connects to and actuates the elongate member so as to reciprocate the lifting device through a curved range of motion spanning from lowered to raised positions. The driving mechanism is positioned external to said wall members. The assembly includes a lifting device and a counterweight. The counterweight rotates about an axis parallel to and spaced-apart from an axis of rotation of the lifting device.

Process systems and methods for cutting true with a bandsaw
Systems and methods for improved bandsaw process control and throughput, in which a sawblade of a bandsaw contacts a bottom sawguide mounted in a bottom guide holder, the bottom guide holder frame having a flexural member that transmits forces on the sawguide to a force transducer associated with the flexural member. Workpiece-related forces include deflection forces, both lateral and torsional, and saw resistance forces on the bottom sawguide. An object of the invention is to establish a true cut condition when pre-straining the sawblade and a process control loop whereby the true cut condition is restored in near real time while cutting a workpiece. The combination of a force sensing guide holder and a process control loop synergically improves target lumber size control and maximizes log value, while also increasing throughput by reducing both overfeed and underfeed.
