Sawmill
A sawmill for sawing a log segment in two through the core thereof and a method of sawing a log in half through the core thereof. The sawmill includes a log feed conveyor configured for feeding logs to a band saw and a log positioning rig, the band saw being disposed on a movable carriage of a fixed frame, the band saw being configured for sawing a log from a first end of the log to a distal end of the log. The log positioning rig has a reciprocating cradle having a plurality of spaced-apart cradle segments. The reciprocating cradle is pivotally attached to the fixed frame, and is configured for raising or lowering the first end of the log to align the central core of the log along the length of the log with a blade of the band saw.

AUTOMATED LUMBER CUTTING AND DELIVERY SYSTEM
A lumber cutting and delivery system for use in assembling trusses on a truss table includes a saw for cutting a piece of material into pieces of a truss. A trunk conveyor system receives the pieces cut from the saw. The trunk conveyor system has a first conveying element to transport the pieces over a distance in a travel direction and an ejector for discharging the pieces from the first conveying element in a first discharge direction. A branch conveyor system is configured to receive the pieces discharged from the trunk conveyor system in the first discharge direction. The branch conveyor system has a main conveying element to transport the pieces.

LUMBER BIN SORTER
A bin sorter for sorting lumber is provided. The bin sorter includes a plurality of bins disposed in a side-by-side configuration. Each bin includes a pair of spaced-apart walls defining a compartment therebetween for receiving lumber. Each compartment has a compartment inlet provided at a top end thereof, and a compartment outlet provided at a bottom end thereof. At least one of the plurality of bins has a support assembly for supporting one or more piles of lumber within the compartment. The support assembly includes a pair of support members having a support base vertically displaceable between the top and bottom ends of the compartment and a support arm connected to the support base and extending within the compartment towards the other support arm. Each support arm is adapted to support a respective pile of lumber or cooperate with one another to support a single pile of lumber.

Variable opening reducer for logs and stems
A Variable Opening Reducer (VOR) for chipping excess fibers on a piece of wood periphery is described, the VOR comprising an infeed portion for securing and moving the piece of wood, along a longitudinal log axis thereof, inside the VOR, a chipping portion disposed sequentially after the infeed portion for receiving therein the piece of wood and for chipping and removing peripheral sections of the piece of wood, the chipping portion comprising a plurality of cutting tools, each of the cutting tools being adapted to revolve about a rotation axis thereof that is substantially perpendicularly located in respect of the longitudinal log axis of the log, each of the cutting tools being radially located in a position interfering with the piece of wood periphery to chip and remove excess fibers and an outfeed portion, disposed after the chipping portion, for receiving, securing and moving the piece of wood along the longitudinal log axis thereof A kit and a method of use thereof are also presented in the present application.
AUTOMATED LUMBER CUTTING AND DELIVERY SYSTEM
A lumber cutting and delivery system for use in assembling trusses on a truss table includes a saw configured to receive a piece of material therein. The saw is configured to cut the piece of material into one or more pieces and at different lengths and angles so that at least some of the one or more pieces are the components of at least one truss. A trunk conveyor system is positioned to receive the one or more pieces cut from the saw. The trunk conveyor system has a first conveying element to transport the one or more pieces over a distance in a travel direction and an ejector configured to discharge the one or more pieces from the first conveying element in a first discharge direction.
