A multi-sectional artificial tree with internal and external power wiring for distributing and controlling power to a network of lights. The tree includes multiple tree sections, each tree section with a set of power wires inside a tree trunk, and a network of lighting wires outside the trunk. The network of lighting wires includes a tree-section wire network with a large gauge wire supplying power to groups of lights strings on branches on the tree trunk. Each group of branches has a branch-level lighting network with multiple connectors in series, and that connects to one connector of the tree-section wire network. Each branch-level lighting network powers multiple light strings connected in series, one light string per branch. The wires of the light strings are small gauge, and are connected by the branch-level connectors by a small-wire-to-large-wire connector.

A wall of material around the rim of a dinner plate, bowl, or drinking glass. A light emitter and battery are removably or integrally attached to the wall. The light emitter may emit different colored lighting from different circumferential sections of the wall toward food or drink in the dinnerware. A removable version of the wall may be C-shaped, with a circumferential groove on an inner surface of the wall that receives the rim of the dinnerware. Mirrors on the wall may reflect the light inward toward food in the dinnerware, and may direct some of the light across the gap in a C-shaped wall. The wall may be translucent or transparent, with the emitter and battery attached to an outer surface of the wall.

One or more tree sections may have a trunk portion, one or more electrical connectors having a plurality of terminals, branches, a light string, and an electrical distribution system located at least partially within the trunk portion. A first tree section may be configured to couple to a second tree section such that an electrical connector of the first tree section is in electrical connection with an electrical connector of the second tree section, thereby mechanically and electrically connecting the first tree section to the second tree section such that power and/or the control data are transmitted to the second tree section. Further, each trunk segment may include an axial electrical connector that permits adjacent trunk segments to connect in a plurality of radial orientations relative to each other.

An illumination system is disclosed. The illumination system may include a base that may support a lighting assembly. The base and the lighting assembly may be configured within a beverage container display unit to illuminate the beverages within the unit. The base and the lighting assembly may be located below the beverage containers within the unit to illuminate the containers from below.

According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus (100) comprising a display surface (102) for presenting an image of a user; a light emitting portion (104) for using light to convey semantic information to the user; a sensor (108) for measuring the position of the user relative to the light emitting portion (104); and a control unit (106) configured to control the light emitting portion (104) based on the measured position of the user relative to the light emitting portion (104) so as to minimise the effect of the light conveying the semantic information provided by the light emitting portion (104) on the presented image of the user.

The insulated sleeve is defined by a base, a sidewall, an open top end, and at least one flexible display screen configured to illuminate and display functional indicia. Systems are disclosed for producing audio that is audible outside a collection box for delivery items, the collection box including a user-operated door. The system can include a trigger device, a sensor, an audio transducer that generates the produced audio from an audio signal, an audio chip and one or more processors. The sensor can detect the trigger device when the trigger device is in close proximity, and the one or more processors can be operably connected to the sensor and to the audio chip, where the one or more processors signal the audio chip to send the audio signal to the audio transducer. The one or more processors can further receive and record a status signal indicating that the door is in an opened state. Systems can further include an environmental sensor that measures environmental information.

A decorative lighted cover for water jugs has an outer cover traversing between a top and a bottom end, with a design cutout traversing laterally through the outer cover and a light source located interior to the outer cover. The light source illuminates the interior of the outer cover, and the illumination is visible through the design cutout. An upper cover obstructs the top end of the outer cover and supports the light source near the top end. The outer cover is affixed around a water cooler's reservoir, and the illuminated design cutout provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
