Chopping aid device
A chopping aid device for use in chopping of firewood prevents pieces of wood from spreading into the surroundings outside the chopping aid device during chopping. The chopping aid device includes a basket-like cuff frame for chopped wood. In order to make the chopping aid device durable against mishits and to prevent the blade of the axe from becoming blunt in case of mishits by the axe, the cuff frame is made of an elastomeric material providing dampening characteristics against impacts and an upper edge of the cuff frame is covered with a collar made of a harder material than the cuff frame and providing protection of the cuff frame against cuts. A method for manufacturing a chopping aid device is also provided.
WOOD SPLITTING AID
The wood splitting aid of the invention includes a resilient bucket that attaches at its bottom to a base block bucket of similar shape and size to be used in conjunction with a hand-splitter such as an ax or splitting-mall. The resilient or flexible upper bucket holds a plurality of split pieces of corded firewood in an upright position for hand chopping and absorbs both horizontal and vertical forces of wood splitting. The split wood pieces are maintained in a general upright position adjacent their neighboring pieces. The base block bucket provides both a safe and ergonomic chopping height which absorbs and distributes the predominantly remaining vertical force of wood-splitting action against solid ground. The buckets are detachably connected bottom to bottom and are nesting when disconnected for easy portability, use, storage and reuse in an urban environment.

Apparatus for securing firewood during splitting
A tool which holds one or more logs steady, in place, and secured to a chopping block while all logs are spilt to the desired size with an axe or splitting maul. This prevents the logs from falling over, saving time, energy, and strain on the user's back.

CHOPPING AID
A chopping aid for use in chopping of wood includes an upper section in an upper part of the chopping aid which at least partly surrounds and supports in an upright position wood arranged in the chopping aid during chopping. A base section in a lower part of the chopping aid extends at least partially along the upper section, and the upper section is supported on top of the base section by springs, which provide a dampening characteristics against impacts on the upper section of the chopping aid.

Splitting apparatus
An apparatus for mechanically splitting materials has a body with a cutting element arranged relative thereto. The cutting element has at least one cutting surface oriented vertically. The splitting apparatus has the cutting element applying an upward pressure against the material which is split when a separate downward force is applied to the material. The body of the splitting apparatus also has a safety element to protect the user from the cutting element; an elongate supporting element to distance the safety element from either or both the cutting element and a surface on which the splitting apparatus is used; a stabilizing element to stabilize the splitting apparatus relative to a surface on which the splitting apparatus is used; and optionally a deflecting element to deflect split materials away from the cutting element and container element to contain therewithin split materials produced during the splitting.
