METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A DECORATIVE SUBSTRATE AND DECORATIVE SUBSTRATE PRODUCED THEREBY

A method of forming a composite article is disclosed that involves providing a press having first and second platens, a cellulosic fiber substrate having a first thickness, and a layer of material such as a wood veneer, foil, or non-creped paper, where the layer of material has a thickness less than the thickness of the cellulosic fiber substrate. A layer of bonding material is placed onto the cellulosic fiber substrate or the layer of material, and the layer of material is placed onto the cellulosic fiber substrate so that the bonding material is between the layer of material and the cellulosic fiber substrate. The cellulosic fiber substrate and layer of material are placed between the first and second platens, and at least one of the first and second platens is moved toward the other of the first and second platens to deform the cellulosic fiber substrate and layer of material into a predetermined configuration while bonding the layer of material to the cellulosic fiber substrate without cracking or wrinkling the layer of material.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A WOOD-BASED BOARD AND SUCH A WOOD-BASED BOARD

A method of manufacturing a wood-based board. The method includes applying at least one first fibre mat including a first mix comprising lignocellulosic particles and a binder on a carrier, applying a second fibre mat including a second mix including cellulosic particles and a binder on said at least one first fibre mat, and pressing said at least one first fibre mat into a base layer and the second fibre mat into a surface layer simultaneously, thereby forming a wood-based board. Also, to such a wood-based board.

Monobloc aerosol tube or can having a coating composition

A monobloc aerosol tube or can being coated on at least a portion of an internal surface thereof with a coating composition, the coating composition comprising a thermoset powder composition, wherein the coating composition is substantially free of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) and bisphenol F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE); wherein the thermoset powder composition comprises an acid functional polyester material and a crosslinker material operable to crosslink the acid functionality on the acid functional polyester material.

Carbodiimide curing for packaging coating compositions

Coated packages and methods for coating such packages is disclosed. The coating compositions comprise a carboxyl-containing polymer and a polycarbodiimide.

STACKABLE MOLDED ARTICLES, AND RELATED ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS

Molded articles are provided. An exemplary molded article includes an inner panel portion, a main body portion, and a contoured portion extending between and interconnecting the inner panel portion and the main body portion so as to surround the inner panel portion and be surrounded by the main body portion. The contoured portion includes contoured corner segments and contoured elongated segments extending between respective pairs of the contoured corner segments. The contoured corner segments have a first maximum thickness. The contoured elongated segments have a second maximum thickness that is greater than the first maximum thickness. Related methods, assemblies, and apparatus are also provided.

PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AND FINISHING IMPROVED ENGINEERED WOOD SIDING

An improved engineered wood product, and related methods, with improved actual and apparent surface quality. The product includes a high basis weight fines layer overlaying a strand matrix base layer, with one or more overlay layers. The fines layer may be placed between the overlay layers, if multiple overlays are present. The configuration of fines layer and overlay layer(s) minimizes the presence of sub-surface imperfections that may result in visible telegraphing on the exposed surface. A light pattern or texture may be embossed on the outermost overlay layer during the pressing process. Additionally, a paint primer layer or coating with added aggregate may be applied to help camouflage inherent sub-surface defects.

Casket and Method of Construction

A casket and method for manufacture of a casket is described, and more particularly, for a casket having walls constructed of fiberboard such as medium density fiberboard (MDF). The walls have outside cladding of MDF that is molded or extruded to provide surface contours such as raised and/or recessed features without having to attach such features as separate trim pieces to the walls. The resulting casket provides aesthetic characteristics and strength for use in funeral ceremonies.

Composite wood panels with corrugated cores and method of manufacturing same

A composite wood panel is manufactured from thin wood laminae cut from wood unsuitable for peeler logs or dimensional lumber. A cold set adhesive is applied to the wood laminae and they are formed into a randomly oriented mat that is cold rolled into a thin, pliable cold rolled stock that can be corrugated. A hot set adhesive may also be applied to the laminae to improve strength of the composite wood panel. The hot set adhesive is set in a hot press after the cold rolled stock is produced.

METHOD TO PRODUCE A VENEER ELEMENT AND A VENEER ELEMENT
20200215799 · 2020-07-09 · ·

A method to produce a veneer element, including defects and dense portions. The method includes providing a substrate, providing a sub-layer, including a binder and coloured filler particles, applying the sub-layer on a first surface of the substrate, applying a veneer layer on the sub-layer, and applying pressure, preferably heat and pressure, to the veneer layer and/or the substrate, thereby forming a veneer element wherein, after pressing, the sub-layer is visible through a defect of the veneer element such as crack, cavity, hole and/or knot of the veneer layer. Also, a veneer element.
