There is described an online inspection method and system having an illumination system that provides bright-field and dark-field illumination concurrently or sequentially, at varying intensities, in order to acquire images that may be read by an image processing device. The image processing device may obtain measurements of features in the images and evaluate acceptability of the features.

RIBBONIZED TOWS FOR OPTIMIZED IMPROVED COMPOSITE PERFORMANCE
20230191656 · 2023-06-22 ·

A method of preparing a ceramic fabric for use in a ceramic matrix composite includes transforming a ceramic tow from a first tow geometry to a second tow geometry, thereby reducing a first dimension of the ceramic tow and increasing a second dimension of the ceramic tow orthogonal to the first dimension to produce a flattened tow. The method includes weaving or braiding the flattened ceramic tow to form a ceramic fabric.

Apparatus and process with a vibratory angled plate and/or fixed horizontal plate for forming fiber-reinforced cementitious panels with controlled thickness

A production line and process including a moving carrier web for transporting the panel, and a device for controlling thickness of a formed, but not yet set, fiber reinforced cementitious panel slurry on the web. The thickness control device may include an angled rigid plate for contacting a downstream end of the angled plate with the slurry on the moving carrier web and a mounting stand for mounting the angled rigid. The thickness control device may include a flat horizontal plate at a fixed height over the moving carrier for contacting the entire lower surface of the horizontal plate with a facer on the slurry on the moving carrier web. Or, the thickness control device may include the angled plate and include the horizontal plate that contacts the facer.

Method of Making an Acoustic Automotive HVAC and AIS Duct with a Particle Fiber Slurry

Disclosed is a method to form arbitrarily shaped, uniform, lightweight, thermally insulating and acoustically absorptive automotive components with controllable density, thickness, porosity, and surface integrity. The method is based on natural cellulosic fibers such as those found in cardboard and paper and uses a thermoplastic fiber and particle slurry to form fusible components. The method produces components having the benefit of commercially available thermoformed fiber mats or open-cell extruded foam components with excellent acoustical properties, enhanced thermal insulation, and are light weight, which limits engine inefficiency, and the high cost of such products so as to allow large scale implementation.

CEMENT COMPOSITION AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR CEMENT CURED BODY USING SAME

Provided is a cement composition that has high fluidity (for example, a 0-drop flow value of 200 mm or more) before curing and exhibits high compressive strength (for example, 320 N/mm.sup.2 or more) after curing. The cement composition includes a cement, a silica fume having a BET specific surface area of from 10 m.sup.2/g to 25 m.sup.2/g, an inorganic powder having a 50% cumulative particle size of from 0.8 μm to 5 μm, a fine aggregate having a maximum particle size of 1.2 mm or less, a water reducing agent, an antifoaming agent, and water. The ratio of the cement is from 55 vol % to 65 vol %, the ratio of the silica fume is from 5 vol % to 25 vol %, and the ratio of the inorganic powder is from 15 vol % to 35 vol % in the total amount of 100 vol % of the cement, the silica fume, and the inorganic powder.

This invention aims to provide a novel material to be used for the production of components used in the construction industry such as construction blocks, wall panels, floor and roof tiles, lintels and any other product that could use this novel material. The novel material is a paper concrete made with 50% to 90% of recycled paper in the base mixture. This invention also aims to provide a novel process for making a construction block with the base mixture of paper concrete. The process for making the lightweight building blocks with this paper concrete has three main steps with two stages each. The base mixture for the paper concrete is essentially interlinked with the process for making this construction block. The two first steps of the process are crucial to achieve the base mixture and the following step is crucial to achieve a construction block. Thereafter, there are possibilities for producing these blocks with different colors by adding pigment to the paper pulp at stage 1 and adding artistic molds to the molds on the block making machine in stage 6.
