Method for making a honeycomb structure comprising coating a honeycomb body with cement skin layers
Disclosed is a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising a honeycomb body and a multilayered outer layer formed of a thick core layer applied and rapidly dried and a thin clad layer dried more gently to form a crack free dual skin layer. The core layer may have properties that are closer to those of the ceramic honeycomb body in service than the clad layer that may provide a tough outer shell to withstand handling and assembly.
Method of producing semiconductor sintered body
A semiconductor sintered body comprising a polycrystalline body, wherein the polycrystalline body comprises silicon or a silicon alloy, and the average grain size of the crystal grains constituting the polycrystalline body is 1 μm or less, and the electrical conductivity is 10,000 S/m or higher.
Wet Press Concrete Slab Manufacturing
The present invention provides a wet press process and admixture components for making concrete slabs (flags) (16), curb (kerb) units, panels, boards, and other flat shapes, whereby colloidal silica and at least one alkanolamine and optional rheology control components are employed to provide an ideal combination of pressing time, green strength, surface definition, stack-ability, final concrete strength, and permeability. Stack-ability can be expressed in terms of minimum deflection or non-eccentricity of the units while standing on thickness edges at distances apart less than width or standing height. A wet press process typically involves introducing a highly fluid concrete mix into a mold (10,12), applying hydraulic pressure to consolidate the concrete (e.g., 1000-3000 PSI) and to extract excess water, removing the pressed concrete (16) while in a green state from the mold (10,12), and then standing the slab (16) units immediately upon removal from the mold (10,12) while in a green state, on an edge adjacent to but spaced apart from other edge-standing units. In further embodiments, rounded aggregates such as naturally occurring sand and/or gravel obtained from local sources can be incorporated into the concrete slabs without defeating (vertical) stack-ability in the green state.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DRYING SKINNED CERAMIC WARES USING RECYCLED MICROWAVE RADIATION
Systems and methods for drying skinned ceramic wares (10) using recycled microwave radiation are disclosed. The method includes irradiating wet skinned ceramic wares (10W) in a first applicator section (124W) with microwave radiation (212), wherein said irradiating (212) gives rise to reflected microwave radiation (212R). The method also includes capturing a portion of the reflected microwave radiation (212R) and irradiating a plurality of semi-dry skinned ceramic wares (105) in a second applicator section (124S) with the reflected microwave radiation (212R). Systems for carrying out the method are also disclosed.
Support material for energy-pulse-induced transfer printing
The invention relates to a material for use as support material for energy-pulse-induced transfer printing, which contains (a) at least one energy transformation component, (b) at least one volume expansion component and (c) at least one binder and which has a viscosity at 25° C. of from 0.2 Pas to 1000 Pas and a surface tension at 25° C. of from 20 to 150 mN/m. The invention furthermore relates to a process for producing three-dimensional objects using the support material.
Honeycomb formed body and method for producing honeycomb structure
A honeycomb formed body containing a ceramics raw material, the honeycomb formed body including: a pillar shaped honeycomb structure portion having a plurality of rectangular cells, the cells being defined by partition walls and extending from a first end face to a second end face to form flow paths; an outer peripheral portion having outer peripheral portions X where the partition walls are covered with an outer peripheral wall; and outer peripheral portions Y where the partition walls are exposed. Each of the outer peripheral portions X includes a tapered portion having a gradually deceasing thickness of the outer peripheral wall toward a boundary portion with an adjacent outer peripheral portion Y. The tapered portion requires a length equal to or more than one time of an average cell pitch in the outer peripheral direction until thickness of the outer peripheral wall is halved.
METAL-CERAMIC COMPOSITE STRUCTURE AND FABRICATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a metal-ceramic composite structure and a fabrication method thereof. The metal-ceramic composite structure includes a ceramic substrate having a groove on a surface thereof; a metal member filled in the groove, including a main body made of zirconium base alloy, and a reinforcing material dispersed in the main body and selected from at least one of W, Mo, Ni, Cr, stainless steel, WC, TiC, SiC, ZrC, ZrO.sub.2, BN, Si.sub.3N.sub.4, TiN and Al.sub.2O.sub.3; a luminance value L of the metal member surface is in a range of 36.92-44.07 under a LAB Chroma system.
ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED HIGH TEMPERATURE OBJECTS
Method for producing an object by additively manufacturing a preform of the object from a building material comprising a polymer. The preform is encapsulated with a metal or metal alloy encapsulant that is capable of withstanding temperatures greater than the preform. The encapsulated preform is heated at a predetermined temperature and for a period of time, such that the preform at least partially transmutes into the form of a carbonaceous solid.
