Ceramic Matrix Composites, and Methods and Systems for Making Same

Methods and ceramic matrix composite articles formed thereby, as well as systems for making such ceramic matrix composite articles and carrying out such methods are disclosed herein. The methods include preparing a ceramic matrix composite by steps including (a) providing reinforcing fiber, such as carbon fiber, for impregnation; (b) heat treating the reinforcing fiber; (c) impregnating the heat treated reinforcing fiber with a composition comprising a ceramic forming polymer to form a fiber reinforced, ceramic forming polymer pre-preg; and (d) heat molding the fiber reinforced, ceramic forming polymer pre-preg to form a molded ceramic matrix composite article.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COMPONENT FROM CURABLE MATERIAL AND CORRESPONDING COMPONENT
20210370546 · 2021-12-02 ·

The invention relates to a process for producing a component (1) from a curable material, a new layer (2) of the material being printed in periodically recurring steps in a 3D printing process onto a layer (3) located thereunder so as to have lower reinforcing elements (4) which protrude above the top of this new layer (2), and also relates to a component produced by a corresponding process. Known processes and components do not allow reinforcement over a large surface area.

The object of designing a process in such a way that the reinforcement thereof withstands high loads is achieved by providing that, after each layer (3) has been printed, upper reinforcing elements (5) are connected to the lower reinforcing elements (4) so as to extend said lower reinforcing elements and so as to form the lower reinforcing elements of the subsequent layer. A corresponding component is the subject of claim 11.

INSULATED EXHAUST PORT LINER FOR A CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

An insulated exhaust port liner of a cylinder head assembly for fluidly connecting to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a sealing layer. The sealing layer has a first surface defining a passage for fluidly connecting to the internal combustion engine and receiving exhaust gas. The sealing layer further includes a second surface opposite to the first surface. The liner further includes a thermal barrier layer coated onto the second surface of the sealing layer. The thermal barrier layer is a porous non-woven material for supporting the sealing layer on the cylinder head and reducing a transfer of heat from the sealing layer to the cylinder head.

Method for producing a textile-reinforced construction material component, and tensioning device for same

A method for producing a three-dimensional construction material component preferably having at least one curved surface. A plurality of spacers are arranged in a formwork. A textile reinforcement is supported on the spacers, such that the textile reinforcement has a defined position within a formwork interior of the formwork. A tensile force is applied via a tensioning device to the textile reinforcement in at least one tension direction. Construction material is introduced into the formwork interior and surrounds the textile reinforcement. The construction material is then hardened, wherein the tensile force is maintained during the hardening. During this process, the spacers are integrated into the construction material component. The tensioning device has at least one clamping unit for clamping an end portion of the textile reinforcement between two clamping surfaces. The clamping surfaces are provided on clamping insert bodies, which are of a plastic material of a defined hardness.

PRECAST CONCRETE PULLBOX WITH KNOCKOUT SECTION
20220168923 · 2022-06-02 ·

Pullboxes for enclosing utility components and methods of manufacturing the same are provided. In some embodiments, a pullbox has at least one knockout section that is an area of the sidewall of the pullbox that has a reduced thickness. Apertures to receive conduits through the knockout section can be created with far less effort that traditional pullboxes. The conduits allow various utility components to pass through the wall of the pullbox. In addition, the discrete knockout section preserves the structural integrity of the pullbox, and the knockout section can have features that promote certain actions during a molding process for manufacturing the pullbox. Additional features such as a reinforcement mesh embedded in the pullbox in a certain manner and location are also described herein.
