A drying apparatus includes: a heating drying portion that heats and dries a thermoplastic medium to which a liquid has been applied; and a pressurizing portion that pressurizes the thermoplastic medium heated by the heating drying portion to correct a shape of the thermoplastic medium. The pressurizing portion pressurizes, while heating, the heated thermoplastic medium in accordance with a state of the thermoplastic medium deformed.

In-line failure detection of a curing light source of a three dimensional object printer

A print system and a method for detecting inline failure of a curing light source of a 3D object printer are disclosed. For example, the print system includes a plurality of printheads, a curing light source, an inline failure detection (IFD) system, a movable member to hold an object, a heat resistant member coupled to the movable member that holds a thermal paper for testing operation of the curing light source and a controller to control movement of the movable member to move the object past the array of printheads, to operate the plurality of printheads to eject the marking material onto the object as the object passes the two-dimensional array of printheads, to operate the curing light source to apply energy to the thermal paper and to cure the marking material, and to operate the IFD system to read the thermal paper to detect a failure of the curing light source.

Mold and Device for Marking Work Pieces

A device for marking a work piece that is at least partially formed or reshaped through a thermal process is provided. The device includes a plurality of heating elements distributed laterally on a surface that is placed against the work piece and can be individually controlled for local heating of a work piece surface. Each of the heating elements includes a solid material with a surface structure and a heating structure. The surface structure includes at least one of a specifically or randomly varied topography. The surface structure can be at least partially heated through the heating structure.

Pneumatic system, imprint apparatus and use thereof

A method of imprinting a substrate (180), comprising affixing a flexible stamp (104) carrying an imprinting pattern (106) to a first carrier (102) comprising an array of apertures (112) which, by gas pressure, either pull the flexible stamp towards the first carrier or push it away; pushing it to a second carrier (170) carrying a substrate (180) with a resist layer (182), leaving a gap (190) for creating a controllable contact area between the flexible stamp and the substrate and space (196) between the first carrier and the flexible stamp; progressively pushing areas of the flexible stamp into the resist layer to imprint it; developing the resist layer; and progressively releasing the flexible stamp by applying suction through successive apertures whilst controlling the inward flow of gas to the space (196) through the apertures that are not yet under suction in order to maintain the space (196) there above ambient but below a predetermined maximum pressure.

A system may include a processing system configured to: receive the electric signal from the sensor; and calculate a relative viscosity of the fluid based at least in part on the electric signal received from the sensor.

TREATMENT OF PARTS BY VAPORIZED SOLVENT

A method is described in which a part is placed within a chamber. Vaporized solvent is provided within the chamber such that the solvent condenses onto and treats the part. A vacuum is then applied to the chamber to extract the solvent and stop the treatment. The vacuum is controlled such that a pressure within the chamber over time has a predefined profile to prevent defects in the part from occurring due to the extraction of solvent from the part.
