Double-sided optical sheets

Disclosed are methods for forming a double-sided optical sheet, and a vehicle lamp assembly having the double-sided optical sheet integrated therein. A first optical pattern is imprinted on a first side of a material, and a second optical pattern is imprinted on a second side of the material, opposite the first side. The first and second optical patterns are thereby formed on opposing sides of the same sheet. When oriented adjacent a light source, the double-sided optical sheet homogenizes light emitted from the light source. For a light source having a plurality of lighting elements, the double-sided optical sheet is configured to blend light emitted from the plurality of lighting elements to form one homogenous beam of light output resulting from a single light-modifying member.

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin substrate for a curved mirror and a method for preparing the same, and a curved mirror and a head-up display comprising the thermoplastic resin substrate. The preparation method comprises the following steps: A) heating up a mold of an injection molding machine to a temperature in a range of 130-190° C. and closing the mold, B) injecting a molten thermoplastic resin into the cavity of the mold cavity, C) applying a pressure of 300-700 bar to the cavity for a period of 5 or more seconds, D) stopping applying pressure and cooling the mold to a temperature in a range of 60-100° C. within 10-50 seconds, and E) opening the mold and taking out the molded thermoplastic resin substrate, wherein a gap of 0.3-1 mm is left between the parting surfaces of the cavity of the mold prior to applying the pressure to the cavity. The thermoplastic resin substrate according to the present invention features a large size, high dimensional stability, and low surface roughness. It can be used for future augmented reality head-up displays to realize large-area, long-distance projection and high-precision imaging, thereby satisfying the requirements for driving safety and comfort of future automobiles.

METHOD OF PRODUCING SEPARATOR PLATES BY COMPACTION AND A PRODUCTION FACILITY

A method for producing a separator plate, where thermoplastic polymer material and a powder of electro-conductive filler, ECF is kneaded at a kneading temperature above a glass transition temperature for the thermoplastic polymer material but below a melting temperature for the thermoplastic polymer material in order to provide a malleable but not molten compound and for causing fibrillization in the thermoplastic polymer material prior to hot-compacting the sheet in a press-form to form a separator plate. A production facility for practicing the method is also disclosed.

A method for rapidly fabricating or repairing a fiber reinforced composite may include the use of a covalent adaptable network polymer (CAN) powder for encapsulating reinforcing fibers or welding to a CAN matrix. The fiber reinforced composite may be formed or repaired by applying CAN powder to reinforcing fibers or to a damaged area of a fiber reinforcing composite and compressing the CAN powder with the reinforcing fibers or the damaged area of the fiber reinforced composite at a relatively low temperature, temperature and processing time to form a CAN matrix. The method may be configured for fabricating a fiber reinforced composite having specific desired material properties by varying the arrangement and materials used.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING OBJECTS HAVING AN OPTIMISED FREE-FORM WITH NOVEL COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND THE RESULTING OBJECT
20220314484 · 2022-10-06 ·

A system and method for designing and manufacturing free-form objects made of composite material and optimised in their weight ratio and load capacity; a system for the design and manufacture of said objects, and the objects resulting from said method. Using three-dimensional (3D) design computer programs and computer calculation programs, the design of a composite material object is obtained, with a specific shape and orientation of its component fragments, optimised to be light and at the same time to meet a required specific mechanical and/or structural performance. Subsequently, a mould of at least two parts is obtained from this design and the parameters of said design are transformed into instructions so that one or more automated manufacturing machines deposit fragments of wood or another material onto the lower part of the mould in specific orientations, calculated to minimise the weight of the object and optimise its load capacity. Then, with the addition of one or more binders, the object is pressed between the parts of said mould. Finally, the new manufactured object is obtained by removing it from the mould.
