A CO-ROTATING SELF-CLEANING TWO SCREW EXTRUDER WITH AN INTERNAL BAFFLE

A self-cleaning extruding apparatus with two co-rotating screws and the method thereof are provided here. Said apparatus is comprised of a screw mechanism, a barrel (1), a feeding port (10), a venting port (11), and a discharge port (12). Said screw mechanism is comprised of the first screw with one tip (3) and the second screw with two tips (4). There is a baffle in the channel of the first screw and the baffle's height is lower than that of the screw flight. The baffle will cause hyperbolic perturbation in the shape of a ‘figure 8’ flow pattern above the top of the baffle. The first and second screws rotate at the same speed and touch each other at all times, thereby achieving a self-cleaning function.

The baffle will generate chaotic mixing in the screw channel caused by the hyperbolic perturbation. Topological chaos is also introduced into the screw channel by the mechanism ‘one part divided into two parts, then two parts converging into one part, and then one part divided into two parts once more’. Each of the screws in the present invention uses an asymmetrical flow channel geometrical shape, such that a periodic action like ‘compression—expansion—further compression—expansion further’ works. The above three enhancement mechanisms work together to efficiently accelerate melting and mixing.

Various embodiments are directed to an airline carpet kit comprising a plurality of carpet components collectively forming a substantially continuous floor covering, for example, for use within an aircraft interior. Each of the plurality of carpet components comprises a tufted carpet backing having a plurality of carpet tufts extending from a back surface of the carpet backing and above a top surface of the carpet backing; and an edge strip comprising an amorphous plastic material, wherein the edge strip extends around a lateral edge of the carpet backing between a base portion embedded within a back surface of the carpet backing and an edge surface defining a perimeter edge of the carpet component. The edge surface of a first carpet component abuts an edge surface of an adjacent second carpet component to form an at least substantially continuous floor covering for an aircraft interior.

A screw for a plasticating apparatus has one or more helical flights. A portion of the screw has a plurality of advancing grooves arranged in a noncontinuous helix cut in the screw. The advancing grooves are dimensioned to receive material therein as the material is conveyed through the barrel. The screw has a plurality of noncontinuous cross-cut grooves traversing one or more of the advancing grooves. The cross-cut grooves have a second helix angle greater than the first helix angle and less than ninety degrees; and/or one or more of the cross-cut grooves have a third helix angle of about ninety degrees.

A trim piece for sealing a work surface including a body having a first side, a second side, and a span disposed between the first side and the second side, wherein the first side and the second side are joined at a junction defining an angle between the first side and the second side of between 80 degrees and 100 degrees, a topcap is affixed to the span of the body, wherein the topcap includes a left side having a first wing and a right side having a second wing, an adhesive is bonded to the first side of the body and an aperture is disposed within the body.

Heater-cooler system for a barrel of an extruder and a method of using the same

A heater-cooler system includes a plurality of heaters in thermal communication with a barrel of an extruder. The heater-cooler system includes a plurality of shroud assemblies that each define a cavity between a shroud assemblies and one of the heaters. Each heater is enclosed by one of the shroud assemblies. Each of the shroud assemblies has an intake port and an exhaust port. The heater-cooler system includes a blower connected to the intake port. The blower delivers air to the cavity. A portion of the each of the shroud assemblies at the exhaust port defines a flap moveably integrated therewith. The flap is opened by an increase in pressure in the cavity caused by operation of the blower. The flap seals the cavity in a closed position upon termination of blower operation. The flap is configured as a poppet valve.

POROUS STAMP MATERIAL FOR LASER PROCESSING, POROUS STAMP USING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

The invention provides a porous stamp material for laser processing that is available for continuous extrusion molding. A material including at least 100 parts by weight of thermoplastic resin, 50-250 parts by weight of hydroxylated compound whose dehydration starting temperature is 100 to 500° C., and water-soluble pore-forming material that has 10-60 μm average particle diameter is mixed to obtain a mixed material. The obtained mixed material is extruded to obtain an extrusion molded product. The obtained extrusion molded product is processed with an aqueous solvent to elute the water-soluble pore-forming material, thereby yielding a porous stamp material that has continuous pores having 10-60 μm pore diameter. The obtained porous stamp material is laser-processed to manufacture a stamp.

Extrusion process

A method for using the quantity of heat output from an extrudate during a cooling operation in an extrusion process, wherein a fluid, in particular air, is guided along the extrudate and/or through the die counter to an extrusion direction, at least some of the heat from the extrudate and/or the die is transmitted to the fluid, the heated fluid is supplied from a first sub region of a process chain, comprising at least one die, a calibrating and cooling device and a take-off apparatus, via a connecting region, preferably consisting of at least one connecting pipe, to a second sub region of the process chain, comprising at least one suction apparatus.
