BIOMEDICAL PATCHES WITH ALIGNED FIBERS
A structure of aligned (e.g., radially and/or polygonally aligned) fibers, and systems and methods for producing and using the same. One or more structures provided may be created using an apparatus that includes one or more first electrodes that define an area and/or partially circumscribe an area. For example, a single first electrode may enclose the area, or a plurality of first electrode(s) may be positioned on at least a portion of the perimeter of the area. A second electrode is positioned within the area. Electrodes with rounded (e.g., convex) surfaces may be arranged in an array, and a fibrous structure created using such electrodes may include an array of wells at positions corresponding to the positions of the electrodes.
Polyolefin based films suitable for thermoforming
The present invention relates to a film structure comprising an outer layer, a core and an inner layer (or sealant layer). The outer layer comprises a polyolefinic material having a Vicat softening temperature of 85° C. or greater, and a total crystallinity in the range of 25 to 45%. The core comprises a linear low density polyethylene having a density of 0.925 g/cm.sup.3 or less, and a melt index of 4.0 g/10 min or less. The inner layer comprises linear low density polyethylene having a density of from 0.865 to 0.926 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index of less than 4.0 g/10 minutes. The films of the present invention have less than 25% of polyethylenes having a density of 0.930 g/cm.sup.3 or greater. Further, the films of the present invention can be characterized by the substantial absence of polyamide, polyester, ethylene vinyl acetate, ionomers, polyvinyl chloride, and/or cyclic olefin polymers.
Interlayer for laminated glass, and laminated glass
There is provided an interlayer film for laminated glass with which the transparency can be enhanced. The interlayer film for laminated glass according to the present invention is in a sea-island state having a sea-like dark part and a plurality of island-like bright parts to be identified when observed with a transmission electron microscope, a thermoplastic resin is contained in the dark part region and a thermoplastic resin is contained in the bright part region, and the arithmetic average value of major diameters of the bright parts is less than or equal to 400 nm or the median value of major diameters of the bright parts is less than or equal to 400 nm.
Interlayer for laminated glass, and laminated glass
There is provided an interlayer film for laminated glass with which the transparency can be enhanced. The interlayer film for laminated glass according to the present invention is in a sea-island state having a sea-like dark part and a plurality of island-like bright parts to be identified when observed with a transmission electron microscope, a thermoplastic resin is contained in the dark part region and a thermoplastic resin is contained in the bright part region, and the arithmetic average value of major diameters of the bright parts is less than or equal to 400 nm or the median value of major diameters of the bright parts is less than or equal to 400 nm.
PREPARATION METHOD OF HIGH-RATE FOAMED POLYLACTIC ACID (PLA) SHEET
A preparation method of a high-rate foamed polylactic acid (PLA) sheet includes first-stage extrusion, second-stage extrusion, and foamed sheet extrusion. The method requires the following raw materials in parts by mass: 88 to 94 parts of PLA, 1 to 2 parts of a nucleating agent, 2 to 5 parts of a foaming agent, and 2 to 5 parts of an additive. The new method effectively solves the problems of low foaming rate, low strength, and the like in the industrial production using carbon dioxide, and a prepared PLA sheet with high foaming rate and excellent surface performance can be used in the fields of food packaging, disposable fully-degradable lunch boxes, and the like.
Lightweight plastic container and preform
A plastic preform includes a hollow body portion including a closed base portion and a lower portion and a lower portion extending upwardly from the closed bottom portion; and a neck portion extending upwardly from the lower portion. The neck portion includes a dispensing opening positioned at a top of the neck portion, threads positioned below the dispensing opening, a tamper-evident formation having a lower surface and positioned directly below the threads, and a support flange having an upper surface and a lower surface and positioned below the tamper-evident formation. In an embodiment, the plastic preform is formed of a material comprising polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and a vertical distance from the lower surface of the tamper-evident formation to the lower surface of the support flange is from 0.125 to 0.150 inches. Containers and methods for molding preforms and making containers are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a device (10) for the generation of a negative pressure for stabilizing a melt strip (200) in the area of a transport device (120) of a film machine (100) particularly with a production process of a plastic film (230) comprising: at least one main chamber (20) for generating a first negative pressure in a first influence area (310) at least one auxiliary chamber (30) for generating a second negative pressure in a second influence area (320), wherein the first influence area (310) is assignable to at least one main area (210) of the melt strip (200) and the second influence area (320) is assignable to at least one edge area (220) of the melt strip (200) adjacent to the main area (210), and wherein the first negative pressure differs from the second negative pressure in order to effect a stabilization of the melt strip (200).
Casting apparatus for manufacturing polymer film
A casting apparatus for manufacturing polymer film includes a die for discharging a molten polymer and having discharge direction oriented at a discharge angle offset from horizontal. The apparatus includes a first chill roll having a first diameter and a second chill roll having a second greater diameter. There is a first gap between the first chill roll and the second chill roll. The discharge angle is of a predetermined magnitude to gravity assist delivery of the molten polymer to the first gap. The second chill roll is positioned to gravity support the film exiting the first gap along a first length of a first side of the film. A first polishing roll is positioned downstream first and second chill rolls. The first polishing roll engages and cools a second length of a second opposite side of the film. The first length is substantially equal to the second length.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR EXTRUDING AND LABELLING A CYLINDRICAL PRODUCT
The method for extruding and labeling a packaging tube comprises the following successive steps: a) forming a partially or totally tubular label from a film in a shaper; b) inserting the label into a calibration element; c) extruding a tubular body at the concave-face side of the label in an extrusion head; d) bringing the outer face of the extruded tubular body into contact with the concave face of the label. In the method, the label comprises at least one layer of which the melting temperature is at least 20° C. higher than the melting temperature of the extruded tubular body. A first pressure difference is formed in the extruded tube with an air jet.
The invention also relates to a device for implementing said method and to a tube obtained by said method.
