Methods of manufacturing an outdoor building material, and outdoor building materials thereof. A polymer matrix and a first reinforcement material may be provided. The polymeric matrix and the first reinforcement material may be shredded to form a shredded mixture. A second reinforcement material may be combined with the shredded mixture to form a combined mixture. The combined mixture may be heated and extruded to form the outdoor building material, in which the first and second reinforcement materials are dispersed in the polymer matrix. At least a portion of the polymer matrix may be derived from waste agricultural film. At least a portion of the first reinforcement material may be post-consumer waste in the form of clothing, carpet, curtains, fabric, or combinations thereof. The second reinforcement material may consist of at least one of char, biochar, and carbon black.

Core-shell morphology of composite filaments for use in extrusion-based additive manufacturing systems

A consumable filament for use in an extrusion-based additive manufacturing system, where the consumable filament comprises a core portion of a matrix of a first base polymer and particles dispersed within the matrix, and a shell portion comprising a same or a different base polymer. The consumable filament is configured to be melted and extruded to form roads of a plurality of solidified layers of a three-dimensional part, and where the roads at least partially retain cross-sectional profiles corresponding to the core portion and the shell portion of the consumable filament and retain the particles within the roads of the printed part and do not penetrate the outer surface of the shell portion.

Extrusion device

An extrusion device comprises at least one supply station suitable for containing a material to be extruded; a plurality of propellers operatively connected to at least one supply station for receiving the material to be extruded and at least one extrusion head connected to at least one propeller. Each propeller can also be selectively activated to modulate an extrusion speed and/or a quantity of material to be extruded as an output from the extrusion head.

MATERIAL DEPOSITION SYSTEM FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
20170368739 · 2017-12-28 ·

A material deposition system for additive manufacturing including an extruder that defines a first input passage for supplying a first material, a second input passage for supplying a second material, a chamber for combining the first and second materials to form a combined deposition material, and an extrusion port for extruding the combined deposition material. The system further includes an adjustable sleeve that is movable between a first position and a second position to vary the interaction between the first material and the second material in the chamber. For example, the adjustable sleeve may be configured to separate the first and second materials in the chamber, and can vary the point at which the materials interface with each other prior to deposition based on the sleeve position. Such a system may enable a varying degree of infiltration, encapsulation, or other interaction between the first and second materials prior to deposition.
