The present disclosure relates to recyclable extrusion blow molded articles made from blends of recycled PET and copolyester compositions which comprise residues of terephthalic acid, neopentyl glycol (NPG), 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), ethylene glycol (EG), and/or 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol residues, in certain compositional ranges that are <4 mm thickness, have a high level of recycled PET content, have low haze and are recyclable in a PET stream.

Ethylene-based polymers are characterized by a melt index less than 1 g/10 min, a density from 0.94 to 0.965 g/cm.sup.3, a Mw from 100,000 to 250,000 g/mol, a relaxation time from 0.5 to 3 sec, and an average number of long chain branches (LCBs) per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 300,000 to 900,000 g/mol that is greater than that in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol, or an average number of LCBs per 1,000,000 total carbon atoms in a molecular weight range of 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 g/mol of less than or equal to about 5 and a maximum ratio of η.sub.E/3η at an extensional rate of 0.1 sec.sup.−1 from 1.2 to 10. These polymers have substantially no long chain branching in the high molecular weight fraction of the polymer, but instead have significant long chain branching in a lower molecular weight fraction, such that polymer melt strength and parison stability are maintained for the fabrication of blow molded products and other articles of manufacture. These ethylene polymers can be produced using a dual catalyst system containing a single or two atom bridged metallocene compound with two indenyl groups, and a single atom bridged metallocene compound with a fluorenyl group and a cyclopentadienyl group.

A method includes injection molding a preform using a two phase injection system having a first phase in which a material is injected into the preform and a second phase in which the material is injected into the preform. The preform is disposed in a mold. The preform is blow molded into an intermediate article. The intermediate article is trimmed to form a finished container. The first phase includes injecting a material into the preform to form a single layer of the preform and the second phase includes injecting the material to form inner and outer layers and an intermediate layer between the inner and outer layers. The inner and outer layers include the material and the intermediate layer includes at least one additive. Finished containers are disclosed.

Modified polyethylene compositions and method for making the same

Provided is a method for increasing the melt strength and/or low shear viscosity of a polyethylene resin. The method includes: a) providing a polyethylene composition including the reaction product of ethylene and optionally, one or more alpha-olefin comonomers, wherein the polyethylene composition is characterized by the following properties: a density ranging from 0.900 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.970 g/cm.sup.3, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) ranging from 2.6 to 3.5, and from 0.10 to 0.27 vinyl groups per 1,000 total carbon atoms; b) providing a masterbatch composition including a free radical generator and a polyethylene resin, wherein the free radical generator has a half-life at 220° C. of less than 200 seconds, and a decomposition energy higher than −250 kJ/mol, and wherein the polyethylene resin has a density ranging from 0.900 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.970 g/cm.sup.3, melt index ranging from 0.01 g/10 min to 100 g/10 min; and c) reacting the polyethylene composition with the masterbatch composition to form a modified polyethylene composition.

A device and method for blowing and stretching a plastic film are provided. A first blow-expanding mechanism subjects a primitive plastic film made of PVC, PLA, or PET to extrusion at a temperature of 140° C.-180° C. and primary blow-expansion to form a volume in which the primitive plastic film has a lateral opening ratio of 1:1. Front-stage press rollers and middle-stage press rollers then subject the primitive plastic film to primary longitudinal press-flattening and pull-stretching, followed by heating and blow-expanding by the second blow-expansion mechanism at a temperature of 160° C.-220° C. and a pressure of 1.1-1.6 atm to achieve a volume in which the primitive plastic film has lateral opening ratio of at least 2:1, further followed by reduction of temperature to a temperature of 10° C.-20° C. for shape fixing to form a shaped plastic film. Finally, rear-stage press rollers subject the shaped plastic film to secondary longitudinal press-flattening and pull-stretching.
