Backspray mitigation system for yachts

A superstructure-integrated backspray mitigation system for yachts including an aft spoiler secured to the vessels hardtop for directing airflow about the hardtop downwardly into the aft cockpit area to interfere with, mitigate and eliminate the natural reverse backspray created by the low-pressure region behind the yacht. The spoiler protrudes from the hardtop and includes at least one air ducting channel directing airflow at select angles into the cockpit area presenting a protective shield preventing the backspray from entering the cockpit. An optional pivotal panel member selectively enables operation of the spoiler.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for measuring changes in this expansion gap and preferably recognizing potential thermal issues before serious problems occur. A sensor is provided adjacent a mold block drive that preferably detects a time duration between sensing a trailing portion of a lead mold block and a leading edge of a following mold block separated from the lead mold block by the thermal expansion gap. This time duration in combination with a speed of the pushed mold blocks is used to calculate the size of the thermal expansion gap.

A tank production system and method that can suppress peeling of normally wound fibers when fibers not wound at predetermined position are peeled off. The system includes a rotation unit that rotates a liner, a storage unit that has recorded thereon the number of revolutions of the liner, and a detection unit that detects abnormality in the position of the fibers wound on the outer periphery of the liner. The rotation unit, when abnormality in the position of the fibers is detected by the detection unit, refers to the number of revolutions of the liner recorded on the storage unit and rotates the liner in an opposite direction to the direction in which the fibers are wound, back to the number of revolutions of the liner at a point when the winding of fibers to form a fiber layer, which includes the fibers detected at the abnormal position, has started.

A filament winding system includes a storage unit that stores in advance a reference shape of a winding object, and winding conditions including a winding position and a winding angle at which a fiber is wound around the winding object having the reference shape, a guide that is movable relative to the winding object, and feeds the fiber onto the winding object, a rotating device that rotates the winding object, such that the fiber fed from the guide is wound around the winding object, a measuring unit that measures a shape of the winding object, and a controller. When there is a difference between the reference shape stored in the storage unit, and the measured shape of the winding object, the controller corrects the winding conditions so as to reduce or eliminate the difference, and controls the guide according to the corrected conditions.

In an embodiment, a paint roller manufacturing system and method uses a fabric-coating applicator to apply a fabric adhesive onto a portion of a perforated paint roller cover fabric material having a plurality of perforations through which adhesive may flow, and into the plurality of perforations and into interstitial spaces of the fabric material, to yield a length of coated fabric. An inner strip and an outer strip are wound about a mandrel in offset relation. A strip-coating applicator is used to apply a strip adhesive to the outer strip as it is wound about the mandrel. Simultaneously with the step of applying the strip adhesive to the outer strip, a portion of the coated paint roller fabric material is received at the outer strip and the length of coated fabric is wound about at least the outer strip to form a paint roller tube.
