Process for manufacturing contact lenses
The invention provides a method of making ophthalmic lenses with an enhanced quality and enhanced yield achieved by using molds having been treated on back surface of mold with corona discharge technique. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a mold for cast-molding contact lenses from a lens formulation, wherein the mold comprises a first mold half having a first molding surface and a first back surface, a second mold half having a second molding surface and a second back surface, wherein when the first and second mold are configured to receive each other such that a lens forming cavity is formed between the first molding surface and the second molding surface and applying a corona discharge on one of the first and second back surfaces so that the molding surface of the mold with the treated back surface has an average water contact angle smaller than the molding surface of the mold with untreated mold by about 0.1 degrees to about 6 degrees.

Method for manufacturing high tenacity fiber and high tenacity fiber manufactured thereby
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a high tenacity yarn and a high tenacity yarn manufactured thereby. More particularly, the present invention relates to: a method of manufacturing a high tenacity yarn, the method including coating a yarn made of at least one of nylon and polyester to obtain a coated yarn, wherein the coating material contains 3 to 35 parts by weight of a reinforcing agent composed of a mineral material per 100 parts by weight of a coating liquid containing polyurethane; and a high tenacity yarn manufactured thereby. Therefore, it is possible to manufacture a yarn having high tenacity and improved processability by processing a nylon or polyester yarn having a relatively low tenacity as compared with a high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) yarn by use of a yarn coating technique, and further to reduce production cost.
POLYMER-BASED CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
Aspects described herein are directed to compositions, systems, and methods of manufacturing a polymer-based construction material comprising polymeric resin, filler such as calcium carbonate (CaCO.sub.3), and titanium oxide (TiO.sub.2). A surface of the polymer-based construction material may be treated such that the surface energy is increased from the material's inherent value to a predetermined value of at least 40 dynes/cm.sup.2. Further, the surface energy of the treated surface may persist within 20% of the predetermined value for at least three days.
PROCESS FOR NANOSTRUCTURING CARBON FIBERS EMBEDDED IN FRPS BASED ON THE USE OF SULPHUR IN COMBINATION WITH AROMATIC HYDROCARBON GROUPS AND ON THE USE OF LASER RADIATION
A process for the nanostructuring of fibers in fiber-composite plastics, where a sulfur-containing nanostructure is formed. Also, a plastics matrix with such nanostructured fibers is disclosed, and also a process for the repair of fibers in a fiber-composite plastic.
Method for manufacturing a hoisting rope, hoisting rope and elevator using the same
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hoisting rope, comprising the steps of providing a plurality of elongated composite members, which composite members are made of composite material comprising reinforcing fibers in polymer matrix; and arranging the composite members to form an elongated row of parallel composite members, which row has a longitudingal direction, a thickness direction and a width direction, and in which row the composite members are positioned side by side such that they are parallel to each other, and spaced apart from each other in width direction of the row; and directing plasma treatment on the outer surface of the composite members; and embedding the composite members in fluid polymer material; and solidifying the polymer material wherein the composite members are embedded. The invention relates also to a hoisting rope obtained with the method and an elevator comprising the hoisting rope.
RESIN MOLDED ARTICLE PRODUCTION METHOD AND OPTICAL COMPONENT PRODUCTION METHOD
The present invention provides a method for producing a resin molded article through which air bubbles are not easily formed during imprint molding when a curable composition is applied to a mold having a pattern shaped section. The method for producing a resin molded article is a method for producing a resin molded article through imprint molding, the method including: a specific curable composition application process such as the curable composition application process (1) below, in which a curable composition having a contact angle of 50 or less on a mold having a pattern shaped section is applied to a portion of the mold uncoated with the curable composition; and a curing process in which the curable composition applied to the mold is cured to obtain a resin molded article; (1) a curable composition application process including a microparticle application step in which the curable composition is applied such that a particle size of microparticles of the curable composition when adhering to the mold is 0.5 mm or less.

Medical electrical lead joints and methods of manufacture
A joint between an insulative sidewall of a medical electrical lead subassembly and an underlying fluoropolymer layer includes an interfacial layer. A first section of the interfacial layer is bonded to the fluoropolymer layer and is formed by a thermoplastic fluoropolymer; a second section of the interfacial layer extends adjacent the first section and is bonded to the insulative sidewall. The insulative sidewall, of the subassembly, and the second section, of the interfacial layer, are each formed from a material that is not a fluoropolymer. A recess is formed in the first section of the interfacial layer and the second section of the interfacial layer extends within the recess.
DISPLAY INSERTS, OVERLAYS, AND GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACES FOR MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS
A disclosed digital media device operational at user premises to receive media signals from a media source for presentation via endpoint devices such as a television display. The digital media device can include gateway and digital media management functionality and can be referred to as a gateway and digital media device. The device offers application services obtained over a wide area network and a user premises network. The digital media device may form a composite signal from the media signal and application service information, for example, for a composite audio and/or video signal for television type presentation to the user. The digital media device may receive a selection signal based on the presentation, for transmission to the application service provider device or to the media source. The media device also offers a GUI presenting a moveable arrangement of icons for selectively accessing application services.
