The invention relates to a household appliance, which comprises at least one catalytically effective substance in a surface, wherein the catalytically effective substance is a polyoxometalate that is comprised in an inner an/or outer surface of the household appliance, provided that the polyoxometalate is comprised at least in an outer surface of the household appliance if the household appliance is a water-bearing household appliance having a container for receiving objects to be cleaned. The invention further relates to a method for operating the household appliance.

An adjustable peeling utensil for peeling an exterior portion from an interior portion of a fruit or vegetable, having: a base having a front side, a back side, a left side, a right side, a top side, and a bottom side; the base being associated with a handle on the back side and having a support bar slideably associated with the front side; and a U-shaped adjustable blade having a front blade side with a cutting edge, a left blade side with a left cutting edge, and a right blade side with a right cutting edge; the U-shaped adjustable blade being slideably associated with the left side and the right side of the base such that the U-shaped adjustable blade is extendable from the front side, to a selected distance between the support bar and the front blade side matching a thickness of the exterior portion; and a locking element.

Provided is an apparatus which simplifies the removal of an onion skin comprising a skin contacting side (1), a cutting and spreading element (2), and a lifting member (31, 32). After the cutting tip (22) of the cutting and spreading element (2) cuts into the outermost onion layer(s) at a top end of the onion and slides downwards along an outer contour of the onion towards a bottom end of the onion to create a cut along the contour of the onion, the lower lifting edge (312, 322) of the lifting member (31, 32) slots behind an inner edge of the cut outermost onion layer(s) and the lifting member (31, 32) lifts up portions of the onion layer(s) in contact therewith as it slides downwards until it passes through the bottom end of the onion, thereby allowing a user to split apart the lifted portions along the cut to remove the outermost onion layer(s) together with outer hard skin of the entire onion in one go.

A device for use in cutting open and removing the seed and flesh of an avocado is disclosed. The device includes a first handle member having a first end and a second end and a second handle member having a first end and a second end. The device also includes a first blade joining the first handle member and the second handle member together at their respective first ends and a second blade coupled to the first handle member and the second handle member at their respective second ends.

A food peeler for peeling an outer layer of a foodstuff, is described. The food peeler can include several members having respective surfaces that appose each other. At least one of the apposing surfaces can have a texture. Relative movement between the members while a foodstuff is in direct contact with the apposing surfaces causes an outer layer of the foodstuff to be peeled and removed from a core of the foodstuff. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

A food peeler for peeling an outer layer of a foodstuff, is described. The food peeler can include several members having respective surfaces that appose each other. At least one of the apposing surfaces can have a texture. Relative movement between the members while a foodstuff is in direct contact with the apposing surfaces causes an outer layer of the foodstuff to be peeled and removed from a core of the foodstuff. A fruit peeler includes a base and a planing blade. The base includes a first rotating member and a second rotating member rotatable relative to the first rotating member. The first rotating member has a fixed arm that has a first position perpendicular to the first rotating member. One end of the fixed arm is connected to the first rotating member, and another end of the fixed arm has an insertion pin extending toward an inner side direction of the fixed arm and rotatable relative to the fixed arm. The planing blade is mounted on a planer frame that is arranged at the fixed arm, and is connected to the second rotating member. The planer frame has a third position perpendicular to the second rotating member. The planing blade can perform a reciprocating curve movement in an axial direction of the insertion pin when the second rotating member rotates.

A fruit peeler includes a base and a planing blade. The base includes a first rotating member and a second rotating member rotatable relative to the first rotating member. The first rotating member has a fixed arm that has a first position perpendicular to the first rotating member. One end of the fixed arm is connected to the first rotating member, and another end of the fixed arm has an insertion pin extending toward an inner side direction of the fixed arm and rotatable relative to the fixed arm. The planing blade is mounted on a planer frame that is arranged at the fixed arm, and is connected to the second rotating member. The planer frame has a third position perpendicular to the second rotating member. The planing blade can perform a reciprocating curve movement in an axial direction of the insertion pin when the second rotating member rotates.
