A method and a system are provided for retaining a side window in a vehicle to meet FMVSS No. 226 standard, where the side window is being secured to an exterior surface of a vehicle body. An optically transparent flexible film laminate is adhered to a visible interior surface of the side window. The optically transparent flexible film laminate has a thickness of between about 0.005 inches and about 0.020 inches. A peripheral edge of the optically transparent flexible film laminate is bonded to an interior surface of the vehicle body. The bonding agent overlaps the peripheral edge and the interior surface at a distance of at least 0.5 inches. The bonding agent can be a Sikaflex-552 adhesive.

The belt fibers define at least one traction surface of the belt. In one embodiment, the bonding tool includes a base member having a rib receptacle dimensioned to receive a rib of a wing, a plurality of compression forms disposed around at least a portion of the rib receptacle and proximate to a perimeter of the rib, where the compression forms include a plurality of sacrificial pads that face towards bonding locations on the perimeter of the rib, and at least one bladder proximate to the compression forms that expands between a wall of the base member and the compression forms to press the sacrificial pads against the bonding locations while the sacrificial pads bond to the bonding locations.
