Bonding objects together

A method of mechanically connecting a connector to a first object includes providing the first object having an opening, providing a first connector element, a second connector element, and thermoplastic material in a solid state, placing the first and second connector elements relative to the opening, causing energy to impinge on the thermoplastic material until at least a portion thereof becomes flowable and flows relative to the first and second connector elements until it is in direct (intimate) contact with both the first and second connector elements, and causing the thermoplastic material to re-solidify (for example by letting the thermoplastic material to cool down to room temperature). The re-solidified thermoplastic material locks the first and second connector elements relative to one another to yield a connector assembly that is anchored in the opening by the thermoplastic material and/or by the locking of the first and second connector elements.

CONNECTOR, AND METHOD

A connector, which is configured to be anchored in a first object with thermoplastic material, defines a proximodistal axis and has a plate portion extending around the proximodistal axis and having a proximal face and a distal face, the proximal face being adapted for a tool to be pressed thereagainst. The connector further includes an attachment structure accessible from the proximal side of the plate portion and/or an interaction element having a sensor and/or actuator. An anchoring skirt protrudes distally from the plate portion and distally and radially outwardly, whereby an outer pocket open towards radially outwardly is formed between the distal face of the plate portion and a proximal face of the anchoring skirt, and an inner pocket open towards distally is formed radially inwardly of the anchoring skirt. The plate portion extends radially further than the anchoring skirt.

Linear panel

A linear wall or ceiling panel comprising and formed from a woven or non-woven fibrous material. Preferably, the material is thermoformable and non-woven and comprises at least one of the group consisting of: bi-core polyester fibers: two different types of fibers having different melting points; a mixture of bi-core polyester fibers and non-bi-core (single core) polyester fibers. The panel is preferably shaped to provide means for mounting the panel to a carrier. Optionally, an end portion may be provided to cover the open longitudinal end of the linear panel.

MECHANICALLY FASTENED JOINT WITH IN-SITU THERMALLY CURED SEAL

A method of installing and sealing a friction fastener to at least an upper substrate and a lower substrate includes providing an expandable sealant to an underhead volume of the friction fastener, installing the friction fastener through the upper substrate and into the lower substrate using a joining device, and applying heat in-situ to the expandable sealant such that the friction fastener is sealed to at least the upper substrate. The heat in-situ is applied to the expandable sealant via installing the friction fastener and/or with an external heating source disposed downstream from the joining device.

INJECTION MOLDED COMPOSITE BLANK AND GUIDE

This specification discloses an article of manufacture. The article of manufacture has at least one structural blank and at least one guide. The structural blank has a plurality of oriented fiber plies in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide has a plurality of random dispersed fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide is affixed to the structural blank by injection molding and over molding the guide onto the structural blank. The article of manufacture can take a number of forms for use in industries such as aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, trains or watercraft.

Thermoplastic plastic nut, nut welding device and nut welding method

A thermoplastic plastic nut includes a nut main section having a second thread to screw a first thread of a bolt; and a thin wall section weldable to the first thread and disposed to protrude upwardly from the nut main section. A material of the nut main section contains a thermoplastic resin and a material of the thin wall section contains the thermoplastic resin. Thus, a thermoplastic plastic nut, a nut welding device and a nut welding method are provided to make it possible to easily prevent the loosening of the nut.
