Automated edge band application for non-linear work pieces
An automated edge band application machine has a board drive assembly and an opposed caster wheel that together capture and move a work piece edge into engagement with a rotating roller banding guide with edge banding captured between. An adhesive affixes the edge banding to the work piece responsive thereto. An edging detector is located along the path of the work piece edge, in a position in advance of the board drive assembly, and is configured to detect a presence of edge band on the edge of the work piece. When the edging detector detects edging, or at a precise distance along the edge band thereafter, a cutting die assembly severs the edge band. The board drive assembly automatically adjusts to varying thickness work pieces, engages with a work piece major surface, and rotates in synchrony with a drive spindle assembly and the rotating roller banding guide.
Method and apparatus for making sealed pouches
A method and apparatus for making pouches is disclosed. It includes using one or more of the following features: using two servo motors to drive a platen, providing a calibration routine is run at start-up and/or after the machine has been operating; controlling in response to feed back from the servo motor(s) such as feedback indicative of the distance the platen travels; the feedback is not of force exerted by the platen; and/or the platen is controlled to prevent unacceptable fracturing of the film laminate.
Device, method and movable joining apparatus for thermal joining respectively two adjacent material sheets over a connecting piece
A device, a method and a movable welding apparatus for thermal joining of respective two material sheets over a connecting piece arranged areally on a bottom side, wherein the material sheets are arranged with a respective side surface facing one another abutting against each other at least partially with a respective bottom side lying areally on a top side of the connecting piece are provided. In particular, the two material sheets and the connecting piece can be joined together in one pass.
Automatic welding machine and method for thermal joining of material sheets
An automatic welding machine for thermally joining sheets of material, in particular for edge side joining of an overlapping upper material sheet to a lower of material sheet, to be connected to one another in a materially bonded manner under the application of heat and subsequent application of pressure, is provided comprising: a heating device for at least partially heating the material sheets to be joined in a connection region; a support frame with a housing; a pressure roller; at least two traveling rollers; wherein the pressure roller and the traveling rollers are arranged on the support frame and together with the support frame form a chassis, wherein the chassis comprises a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis perpendicular thereto, which span a chassis plane; wherein at least a first travelling roller of the two travelling rollers and/or the heating device is arranged to be movable by a telescopic pull-out relative to the support frame in directions parallel to the transverse axis; wherein the first travelling roller and the heating device are with respect to a longitudinal center of the chassis arranged on opposite sides of the chassis. Further a corresponding method is provided.
Methods for fabrication of thermoplastic components
A method of fabricating a thermoplastic component using inductive heating is described. The method includes positioning a plurality of induction heating coils to define a process area for the thermoplastic component, wherein the plurality of induction heating coils comprises a first set of coils and a second set of coils. The method also includes controlling a supply of electricity provided to the plurality of inductive heating coils to intermittently activate the coils. The intermittent activation is configured to facilitate prevention of electromagnetic interference between adjacent coils.
METHODS OF HANDLING ADHESIVE LAMINATE PATCHES
Methods of handling adhesive laminate patches. A first article, passed over a first supporting structure, includes disconnected adhesive laminate patches adhered to a first web, each patch being aligned over and adhered to a tab. A second web can be passed over a second supporting structure that is separated from the first supporting structure by a gap. The first article can be passed over the first supporting structure to lift a leading portion of a first tab and a first patch off of the first web together, such that the first tab facilitates transfer of the first patch across the gap. The first patch can then be adhered to the second web; and the second web can be advanced to transfer the first patch, and first tab, onto the second web to form a second article comprising patches aligned over tabs on the second web.
PROCESS FOR JOINING OVERLAPPING THERMOPLASTIC MEMBRANE COMPONENTS
A method of joining overlapping thermoplastic membrane components in which a first thermoplastic membrane component and a second thermoplastic membrane component are positioned in overlapping relationship between a pair of complementary molding surfaces, with at least one of the complementary molding surfaces being defined by an electrically conductive metal susceptor. Heat is generated in the metal susceptor and transferred by thermal conduction from the metal susceptor to overlapping portions of the first and second thermoplastic membrane components to locally melt and coalesce at least a portion of the thermoplastic material of the first thermoplastic membrane component and at least a portion of the thermoplastic material of the second thermoplastic membrane component. The molten thermoplastic material of the first and second thermoplastic membrane components forms a zone of coalesced thermoplastic material that, upon cooling, forms a solid weld joint that fusion welds the first and second thermoplastic membrane components together.
Heating Unit for Heating Package Sleeves and Apparatus Comprising Such a Heating Unit
A heating unit is described and illustrated including at least two heating devices for at least partially heating with hot air end areas of package sleeves to be sealed, wherein the heating unit has an air supply device for supplying air to be heated to the heating devices, wherein the heating devices each have a heating element for producing hot air and a nozzle unit for blowing hot air produced in the heating device against the end area of the package sleeve. In order to be able to increase the leak tightness of the sealed end areas of the package sleeves without having to accept an excessive outlay and effort in terms of the equipment and/or in terms of the method for this, it has been proposed that the heating devices are each separately connected to the air supply device by means of at least one holder and are each separately held on the air supply device by means of the at least one holder.
Edge banding machine
An edge banding machine having a platform, a glue applicator and, an edge band transmission mechanism for affixing an edge band to a workpiece is disclosed. The glue applicator is mounted at the platform, including a glue-applying shaft. The edge band transmission mechanism is mounted at the platform adjacent to the glue applicator, including an edge band transferring shaft disposed in parallel to the glue-applying shaft and a motor connected with the edge band transferring shaft for driving the edge band transferring shaft to rotate. The edge band transferring shaft is connected with the glue-applying shaft so that the edge band transferring shaft and the glue-applying shaft can be synchronously rotated.
