Method of reducing burn-on time
11059238 · 2021-07-13 · ·

A method of reducing a burn-on time of a composite component including a body comprising a plurality of fibres layered between a front face of the body and a rear face of the body within a matrix material, wherein the body comprises an edge face between the front face and the rear face at least partially formed by edges of the layers of fibres. The method comprising shaping an edge portion of the body in order to control a local concentration of vapours from the matrix material at the edge face of the body, the vapours having been produced during heating of the composite component and having passed between the layers of fibre of the body to the edge face.

WASTE PLASTIC CONVERSION
20200325069 · 2020-10-15 ·

Waste plastic can be converted into rock for decorative and utilitarian applications. A combination of sand and waste plastic is added into a tumbling chamber, and the tumbling chamber is rotated. The combination of sand and waste plastic is heated while rotating the tumbling chamber to form conglomerates. When a desired size of the conglomerates is achieved, the heating is stopped. Dry cement is then added to the tumbling chamber while continuing to rotate the tumbling chamber.

A method for manufacturing a reel includes molding a reel configuration component that is made of resin and includes a reel hub with an outer peripheral face for winding a recording tape onto, after the molding and prior to the reel configuration component cooling and shrinking, embedding a reinforcement ring into the reel hub, and after the embedding, cooling and shrinking the reel configuration component and fixing the reinforcement ring to the reel hub.

Thermoplastic forming tool
11931971 · 2024-03-19 · ·

A thermoplastic forming tool includes a wand that includes a handle, a tip, and a conduit coupling the handle to the tip. The tip includes a heating element, a forming shoe, and a forming shoe support. During use, heat from the heating element heats the forming shoe to a temperature at or above the glass transition temperature of a thermoplastic polymer. The thermoplastic forming tool may be used to apply a thermoplastic material to a surface.

Vertical displacement devices and methods for mechanically inverting a thermoplastic container base
11919670 · 2024-03-05 · ·

A displacement device for moving a truncated cone at a base of a container from an as-blown position to a displaced position. The base includes a deep base ring between a standing surface and the truncated cone. The displacement device includes a collar sized and shaped to be received within the deep base ring. A plunger includes a head at an end of a shaft extending through the collar. The head is sized and shaped to be received within the receptacle of the collar. The plunger is movable from a retracted position, at which the head is seated within the receptacle, to an extended position at which the head extends out from within the receptacle to allow the head to contact the truncated cone and move the truncated cone from the as-blown position to the displaced position.

ADAPTIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM

A system and method for processing a flexible part comprising holding the flexible part securely in an unconstrained position using a holder; and controlling a positioner to process the flexible part based on a comparison of a shape and/or position of the flexible part in the unconstrained position with design specifications of the part not in the unconstrained position.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN INJECTION DEVICE WITH A BYPASS CHANNEL AND TOOL FOR THIS PURPOSE
20190315028 · 2019-10-17 ·

A tool and a method for manufacturing a bypass in an injection device are disclosed. The preforms of the injection device are inserted into a tool. A partial region of the cylindrical portion is heated by a heat source. The heated partial region of the cylindrical portion is plastically deformed with a male die part of the tool, so that the bypass channel is formed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING PROTRUSIONS IN A SUBSTRATE USED TO MANUFACTURE ABSORBENT ARTICLES

A method is presented for altering a portion of a substrate. The method includes providing a first device including an outer surface and a second device including a source of vibration energy. The method also includes forming a nip between the source of vibration energy and the outer surface. The method also includes conveying the substrate through the nip and intermittently altering the portion of the substrate in the nip to create a pattern of altered areas forming a shape. The altered areas have a pattern balance that includes one or more of: an average area of the substrate altered in the nip is within a threshold range across the portion of the substrate; and a simple area of integral areas within the altered areas is within a threshold range across the portion of the substrate.
