COMPONENT WITH BONDED THERMOPLASTIC AND THERMOSET LAYERS
A component is provided that includes a multi-layer body configured with a thermoplastic layer, a thermoset layer and a scrim at an interface between the thermoplastic layer and the thermoset layer. The thermoplastic layer includes a plurality of reinforcement particles within a thermoplastic matrix. The thermoset layer is configured from or otherwise includes a thermoset matrix.
STRUCTURE REINFORCING MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING REINFORCING MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING STRUCTURE
[Problem]
To increase rigidity.
[Solution]
Provided is a structure including a main body portion, a plurality of reinforcement members arranged on the main body portion, each of the reinforcement members including a base material formed of resin or metal. Provided is a manufacturing method of a structure which includes a main body portion having a hollow configuration surrounding an internal space thereof. The manufacturing method includes a preparation step of preparing a plurality of reinforcement members each including at least a base material formed of resin or metal, a carrying-in step of carrying the plurality of reinforcement members into the internal space from an opening arranged at the main body portion, and a step of arranging a fixing portion which fixes the plurality of reinforcement members into the main body portion.
Composite panel
A composite panel for use in applications such as mobile homes, boats, buses, RVs, or other panels used typically in transportation applications, where a single piece, water resistant, lightweight panel with patterned high-strength areas is needed. The composite panel generally includes internal preforms made of low-density material such as urethane foam, which create patterned structural portions of the panel during the molding process. The patterned structural portions are formed by a maze-like region within a mold, into which composite matrix material is infused. The patterned structural portions have high strength compared to the other regions of the panel, and can be used for structural support or for retaining fasteners for appliances, walls, etc.
LIGHTWEIGHT THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE PRODUCTS AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
A lightweight polymer-based composite product may include a polymer material body and a lightweight filler material that is embedded in the polymer. The polymer material body may be an in-situ polymerized polymer formed via casting of a reactive resin in a mold. The polymer may have a density of at least 1.0 g/cm.sup.3. The lightweight filler material may be concentrated on at least a portion of a first surface of the polymer material body. The lightweight filler material may have a density of between 0.1 and 1.0 g/cm.sup.3. The lightweight polymer-based composite product may have a density that is less than a comparable product that consists mainly of the polymer.
Method of making composite from green material
A method of making a composite laminate includes dequilling chicken feathers to form chicken feather fibers (CFFs). The CFFs and Ceiba Pentandra bark fibers (CPFs) are milled to form milled CFFs and milled CPFs so that the milled CFFs have a length of smaller than 200 microns and the milled CPFs have a length of smaller than 600 microns. The CFFs are treated with an amine compatibilizer to esterify carboxy groups present on keratin in the CFFs. A mixture of an epoxy resin, the milled CFFs, and the milled CPFs is solution cast to form an epoxy composite. A first carbon fabric layer and a second carbon fabric layer are placed on a front side and a backside, respectively, of the epoxy composite to form an epoxy laminate precursor. The epoxy laminate precursor is compression molded to cure the epoxy laminate precursor to form the composite laminate.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MOLDED PRODUCT
The method for manufacturing a molded product of the present disclosure includes a deposition step of depositing a mixture including a fiber and a complex, a humidification step of humidifying the mixture, and a molding step of heating and pressurizing the humidified mixture to obtain a molded product. The complex includes a composite particle in which a binding material particle containing a binding material that exerts a binding force for binding the individual fibers together by being applied with moisture and an inorganic particle are included as a unit.
LIGHTNING PROTECTION IN AIRCRAFTS CONSTRUCTED WITH CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC
The embodiments described herein provide for lightning protection in aircrafts constructed with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a first Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) panel, a second CFRP panel that overlaps with the first CFRP panel in a vertical direction, and a fastener to join the first CFRP panel with the second CFRP panel, the fastener extending in the vertical direction in an area where the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel overlap. The apparatus further includes a plurality of electrically conductive pins in each of the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel, wherein the pins extend in the vertical direction proximate to the fastener to electrically connect the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel in the area where the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel overlap.
