20170361549 · 2017-12-21 ·

Methods of using and repairing seal caps as well as constructions comprising seal caps, including in some embodiments seal caps which may be useful in sealing fasteners that protrude into fuel storage cells in aircraft. In some embodiments, methods include the use of optically translucent seal cap and application of a second quantity of sealant to fill voids observed within the interior of the seal cap after cure of a first quantity of sealant.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING AN IN SITU REPAIR OF AN INTERNAL COMPONENT OF A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
20170362939 · 2017-12-21 ·

In one aspect, a method for performing in situ repairs of internal components of a gas turbine engine may generally include inserting a repair tool within an interior of the gas turbine engine such that a tip end of the repair tool is positioned within the gas turbine engine and an exterior end is positioned outside the gas turbine engine. The method may also include positioning the tip end of the repair tool adjacent to a defect of an internal component, wherein the defect defines a fillable volume along a portion of the internal component. In addition, the method may include intermixing two or more constituents of a repair agent within the repair tool at a mixing location defined within the gas turbine engine, and expelling the repair agent from the tip end such that the fillable volume is at least partially filled with the repair agent.

TIRE PROCESSING APPARATUS, TIRE REPAIRING APPARATUS, REPAIR SHEET, TIRE REPAIRING METHOD, AND TIRE MANUFACTURING METHOD

A tire repairing apparatus includes: a tire support portion rotatably supporting a pneumatic tire; and an application mechanism configured to apply an additive that has a softening effect, to a tread portion of the pneumatic tire supported by the tire support portion, thereby causing the additive to permeate into the tread portion

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING AND REPAIRING FIBRE-REINFORCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS
20170341320 · 2017-11-30 ·

Apparatus and methods for manufacturing and repairing fibre-reinforced composite materials are disclosed. In various embodiments, the apparatus and methods disclosed herein use a resin retaining/releasing device comprising resin having a viscosity that is temperature dependent for infusion into a region of a part. The resin retaining/releasing device may include a first sheet and an opposite second sheet at least partially enclosing the quantity of resin. The first sheet and the second sheet may be gas-permeable. The second sheet may be substantially resin-impermeable when the viscosity of the resin is above a threshold viscosity and resin-permeable when the viscosity of the resin is below the threshold viscosity.
