Biodegradable and industrially compostable injection molded microcellular flexible foams, and a method of manufacturing the same
11565448 · 2023-01-31 · ·

A process for injection molded microcellular foaming various flexible foam compositions from biodegradable and industrially compostable bio-derived thermoplastic resins for use in, for example, footwear components, seating components, protective gear components, and watersport accessories wherein a process of manufacturing includes the steps of: producing a suitable thermoplastic biopolymer or biopolymer blend; injection molding the thermoplastic biopolymer or biopolymer blend into a suitable mold shape with inert nitrogen gas; controlling the polymer melt, pressure, temperature, and time such that a desirable flexible foam is formed; and utilizing gas counterpressure in the injection molding process to ensure the optimal foam structure with the least amount of cosmetic defects and little to no plastic skin on the outside of the foamed structure.

Sealing cover and molding method thereof

Provided is a molding method of a sealing cover, realized by setting up a sealing cover mold, the mold includes a cavity and a core group arranged in the cavity, including setting up a first core and a second core, the mold opening direction of the first core and the second core are not parallel. The present application does not need a process hole to perform the injection molding of the sealing cover with a fastening structure, whose sealing is also better.

Investment Casting Compositions and Methods

Investment casting compositions are provided including: a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer; b) a hydroxyl-functional poly(alkylene carbonate) polymer; c) a free-radical initiator; and d) a catalyst that aids in thermal decomposition of the hydroxyl-functional poly(alkylene carbonate) polymer. Methods of using the investment casting compositions are also provided, including: a) forming at least one investment casting pattern from an investment casting composition; b) investing the at least one investment casting pattern with at least one ceramic slurry to form a mold shell; and c) heating the mold shell to initiate decomposition of the hydroxyl-functional poly(alkylene carbonate) polymer and to form a ceramic mold. Use of these investment casting compositions tends to result in little to no cracking of the mold shell as well as allowing for significant removal of the investment casting pattern from the mold shell, upon heating of the mold shell.

Additively manufactured self-supporting microfluidics

A printed structure including a plurality of overlying layers of elongate polymeric filaments stacked on a surface of a substrate. The elongate polymeric filaments are stacked on each other along their lengths to form a liquid impermeable, self-supporting wall. The liquid impermeable self-supporting wall forms a wall angle of about 30° to about 90° with respect to a plane of the surface of the substrate.

PACKAGING TRAY AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

Thermoplastic packaging trays are provided that are filled with a product and wrapped in film, and methods of producing the tray with a peripheral edge region that avoids tearing of the overwrap film. In various embodiments, the tray has a beaded, a flat, or a combined beaded and flat peripheral edge.

Deep-drawn paper tray, a method and an apparatus for making it, and a tray-formed product package

A deep-drawn paper tray made of paper material, a method and an apparatus for manufacturing the tray, and a closed product package comprising the tray. The tray having a bottom and upwardly expanding side walls around the bottom, the side walls of the tray being shaped to expand through a plurality of circumferential steps dimensioned low enough for obtaining wrinkle-free side walls for the tray. The outermost step is a flat, wrinkle-free rim flange, which enables liquid and gas proof heat-sealing of a lid to form the package. The apparatus may comprise upper and lower moulding tools with concentric movable frames for forming the tray bottom and side wall steps from paper blanks, and moulding tools may be mounted onto a rotating turret carrying a paper blank through working stations arranged along the turret circumference, to shape the tray bottom and the side wall steps at the consecutive stations.
