PROCESS OF FORMING POLYMERIC MATERIAL
A method for forming an article includes providing a sheet of material, optionally conditioning the sheet with a surface of a roller, forming the sheet to provide a web, and separating an article from the web to provide the article. An apparatus adapted to form the article from a sheet is provided.
Method and system for manufacturing noodles of structural joints
A method of manufacturing a noodle of a structural joint that comprises pulling a first composite sheet through a first splitting station to cut the first composite sheet into a plurality of first composite plies, pulling the plurality of first composite plies through a first alignment station to stack the plurality of first composite plies on top of each other to form a first stacked composite layup, pulling the first stacked composite layup through a first heating station to heat the first stacked composite layup to form a first heated composite layup, pulling the first heated composite layup through a first forming station to shape the first heated composite layup into a first pre-selected cross-sectional shape to form at least a first portion of a continuous noodle, and pulling at least the first portion of the continuous noodle through a cutting station to cut at least the first portion of the continuous noodle to a pre-selected length.
System and method for forming a part by automated fiber placement
A method of forming a part includes applying first fiber tows according to a pattern to form a first ply of a set of plies. The method further includes applying second fiber tows according to the pattern to form a second ply of the set of plies that overlies the first ply. The pattern of the second ply is shifted relative to the pattern of the first ply by an offset distance based on a period of the first fiber tows and a number of plies having the pattern in the set of plies.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL PART COMPRISING A BODY EXTENDED BY A REINFORCED ATTACHMENT END
The invention concerns a method for manufacturing a turbomachine flow straightener made from composite material having a blade extended by at least one attachment end, comprising the operations of: forming a fibrous blank from a three-dimensional fabric comprising warp threads oriented in a direction corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the blade to be manufactured; dividing at least one end of the fibrous blank by separating in order to constitute at least two sets of integrated layers; shifting at least one set of integrated layers in a planar configuration such that the warp threads are inclined in this set of integrated layers relative to the orientation of the warp threads in the fibrous blank portion of the blade.
Thermoformed flexible stand-up dispensing package with integral pour spout
A highly flexible thermoformed stand-up dispensing package for a flowable material that is produced from one or more highly flexible heat-sealable polymeric sheets is formed with a trapezoidal front wall and opposing back wall and is dimensional and configured so that the corner of the package formed by the intersection of the top and the projecting side wall, or walls, that extend at an obtuse angle from the base is removable along a weakened tear line that is positioned upon removal to provide an integral pour spout for the controlled dispensing of the flowable material; and the container portion of the package is dimensioned to (1) maintain the center of gravity of the flowable material in the package over the base wall when the base wall of the filled package is in contact with a horizontal surface, and (2) to maintain the level of flowable material in the opened package is below the opened integral pour spout.
DENTAL CORD USING NANOFIBER CONJUGATE YARN, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
Provided is a method of manufacturing a dental cord. The method including: producing a spinning solution by dissolving a fiber-moldable hydrophobic polymer material in a solvent; spinning the spinning solution to obtain a polymer nanofiber web composed of nanofibers and including three-dimensional micropores; laminating the polymer nanofiber web to obtain a polymer membrane; slitting the polymer membrane to obtain a nanofiber tape yarn; hydrophilic-treating the nanofiber tape yarn to obtain a hydrophilic-treated nanofiber tape yarn; plying and twisting the hydrophilic-treated nanofiber tape yarn with a covered yarn to obtain a nanofiber multiple yarn; and impregnating the nanofiber multiple yarn with a hemostatic agent.
Parison transfer apparatus
A parison transfer apparatus includes a die core and at least two parison expansion rollers disposed below the die core and having a conical shape. The die core extrudes a parison having a form of a single sheet or cut into a plurality of sheets in an arc shape toward a space below the die core. The parison expansion rollers are arranged to abut against the vicinity of respective side end portions of the arc-shaped parison having the form of the single sheet or the plurality of sheets as a result of the cutting. The parison expansion rollers are configured to be rotated in a direction opposite to a downflow direction of the parison to pull the side end portion of the parison such that a width of the side end portion expands and a shape of the parison changes from the arc shape into a flat plate shape.
Copolymers of propylene with hexene-1 and blown films obtained from them
A copolymer of propylene with hexene-1 containing from 5 to 9% by weight of recurring units derived from hexene-1, having a melting temperature from 125 to 140 C. and Melt Flow Rate (ASTM D1238, 230/2.16 Kg) from 0.1 to 3 g/10 min., is used to produce blown films having valuable mechanical and optical properties.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING A THERMOPLASTIC STRUCTURE
Methods and apparatus for manufacturing a thermoplastic structure include laying a first plurality of braided plies on a mandrel, and laying one or more unidirectional plies on the plurality of braided plies. A second plurality of braided plies is laid on the one or more unidirectional plies. The layup thereby forms a thermoplastic structure having combined braided and unidirectional plies.
POLYMERIC MULTILAYER FILM
Polymeric multilayer film comprising at least two adjacent layers each exhibiting a random network of strands and connective regions. The polymeric multilayer films are useful, for example, for tape and graphic articles.
