Method of forming a spliced joint in a handrail or other elongate article
A handrail has a thermoplastic body having a generally C-shaped cross section, a stretch inhibitor in the thermoplastic body above a T-shaped slot and a slider fabric layer. The handrail includes first and second end portions, each comprising a forward part extending from an end surface of the end portion and a rear part adjacent the forward part. A method of forming a joint can include: providing cuts to separate a top section of the thermoplastic body from a base section including shoulder portions; for each end portion, removing at least shoulder portions from the forward part thereof, to leave a central portion including a forward part at the slider fabric layer and a layer of thermoplastic; cutting the forward parts to a required shape; and assembling the first and second end portions together to form a spliced joint for moulding.
Sheet space-detecting device, sheet space-detecting method, and sheet-welding method having a spacer that supports a rear end of a preceding first fiber reinforced plastic sheet and a front end of a following second fiber reinforced plastic sheet
A sheet space-detecting device detects a space between a rear end of a preceding first fiber reinforced plastic sheet and a front end of a following second fiber reinforced plastic sheet in a conveyance path for fiber reinforced plastic sheets and includes: a light-detecting sensor that projects detection light on an area including the rear end of the first fiber reinforced plastic sheet, the front end of the second fiber reinforced plastic sheet, and a reference surface exposed from the space and receives reflected light thereof; and a spacer that supports the rear end of the first fiber reinforced plastic sheet and the front end of the second fiber reinforced plastic sheet in a state where the rear end and the front end are separated from the reference surface, in an area including at least a light-projected area on which the detection light is projected.
Tag attachment by shrink film
In one aspect, an article includes a first sleeve formed from a first heat-shrinkable polymer sheet, the first heat-shrinkable polymer sheet having opposed first and second edges, wherein the first sleeve is formed with a first seam proximate the first edge. A portion of the first heat-shrinkable polymer sheet extends between the first sleeve and the second edge. A tag is bonded to the portion of the first heat-shrinkable polymer sheet proximate the second edge at a first overlap zone of the tag and the portion of the first heat-shrinkable polymer sheet. In another aspect, an article includes a heat-shrinkable polymer sheet and a tag bonded to the sheet. The heat-shrinkable polymer sheet has a central area and a plurality of slits disposed through the sheet, at least one of the plurality of slits oriented to partially surround the central area.
Electrical or electronic assembly and method for producing an electrical or electronic component
A method is provided for the production of an electrical or electronic component having a conductor element with two contact points and a plastic structure injection-molded thereon. A strip-type metal substrate, having multiple conductor element blanks and a carrier structure, is provided. Grooved depressions are produced on all peripheral surfaces of the blanks on a texturing section with one or two laser light sources. With a single laser light source the grooved depressions are produced on at least two primary peripheral surfaces which adjoin one another and form a common edge such that a multiplicity of the grooved depressions extends without interruption continuously into the primary peripheral surfaces. A conductor element blank is separated from the carrier structure. The resulting conductor element is encapsulated with plastic by injection molding on all peripheral surfaces within a section to be encapsulated. The plastic structure thereby formed extends into the grooved depressions.
Autonomous flexible manufacturing system for building a fuselage
A method and apparatus for building a fuselage assembly for an aircraft. A number of fixtures may be drive across a floor to an assembly area to form an assembly fixture. The fuselage assembly may be built on the assembly fixture.
Towers for accessing an interior of a fuselage assembly
An apparatus for accessing an interior of a fuselage assembly. A tower having a number of platform levels may be driven into a selected tower position within an assembly area. The interior of the fuselage assembly may be accessed using the number of platform levels.
Film securing apparatus and method
Systems, apparatuses, and methods to secure a film to a container are provided. An example sealing device utilizes film from a supply of film to seal a lid onto a container. Various sizes of containers are usable with some example sealing devices. Additional features, such as printing on the film and piercing the film for ventilation and/or insertion of a straw are contemplated. One or more markings along the film may be utilized for confirming that an approved film has been loaded into the sealing device. In response, various components or features of the sealing device may be appropriately enabled or disabled. The one or more markings may also be utilized to convey data to the sealing device regarding the installed film, such as for improved operation thereof.
Sandwich panel having anticlastic curvature characteristic and manufacturing method of same
Disclosed are a sandwich panel capable of being advantageously applied to a body wearable device, and a method of manufacturing the same. The sandwich panel includes: a core; and face sheets attached to both surfaces of the core, wherein the face sheet is made of a two-dimensional auxetic material. The core has a neutral surface in accordance with bending moment and is made of a porous material. The face sheet is made of metal, polymer, ceramic, or a composite material, and has higher density, strength, and rigidity than the core. The method includes: processing face sheets; and attaching the face sheets to both surfaces of a core, wherein the face sheet is processed to have a two-dimensional auxetic structure.
