SEAM CONSTRUCTION USING RADIO FREQUENCY WELDING AND TAPE
A process of constructing an air tight and water tight seam, comprising cutting a sheet of selected material into two or more panels, sealing the panels at respective selected edges using an ultrasonic machine to form a seam, overlaying the seam with a tape made of the same selected material, and sealing the tape and seam using a radio frequency (RF) welding machine.
Method for producing hollow bodies from thermoplastic material and apparatus for carrying out the method
The invention relates to a method for producing hollow bodies from thermoplastic material and to an apparatus for carrying out the method. The method comprises the molding of at least two sheet-like preforms in web form of thermoplastic material into two complementary shells in a multi-part tool, which in a closed position forms a mold impression, and the joining together of the shells to form an essentially closed hollow body, the preforms being brought between the parts of the tool in an opened receiving position of the parts of the tool and the preforms being placed into the part-cavities by applying differential pressure and being at least partially molded in them into shells. The shells are joined together to form an essentially closed hollow body by closing the tool to form a closed mold impression. The method is distinguished by the fact that the preforms are molded in the part-cavities while the parts of the tool are located in the opened receiving position.
HIGHLY ORIENTED EXPANDED POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE WITH SUPERIOR STIFFNESS
Self-supporting uniaxially expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) membranes that have high intrinsic strength, a high matrix modulus, and a high crystallinity index are provided. In some embodiments, the ePTFE membrane is stretched in the machine direction. Uniaxially oriented ePTFE membranes have a matrix tensile strength at least about 1000 MPa in the machine direction, a matrix modulus at least about 100 GPa ambient temperature (i.e., about 20° C.), and a crystallinity index of at least about 94%. In some embodiments, the ePTFE membrane has a tenacity greater than or equal to about 5 gf/d and a denier less than or equal to about 750 g/9000 m. In addition, the uniaxially oriented ePTFE membranes have a <P2> orientation of at least about 0.98. Also, the fibrils in the ePTFE membranes have a nearly perfect parallel alignment. The ePTFE membrane may be used to form composites, laminates, fibers, tapes, sheets, tubes, or other three-dimensional objects.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL VEHICLE COMPONENT CONSTRUCT
A vehicle component construct and process of making the same including a frame formed of a composite sandwich panel material and a window formed of a transparent resin within the frame. The composite sandwich panel material of the frame including an open area core defining a plurality of pores, a high gloss surface sheet adhered to a first face of the open area core by a first adhesive layer, and a structural skin adhered to a second face of the open area core by a second adhesive layer. The frame defining a through opening that extends from an exterior surface of the frame to an oppositely opposed interior surface of the frame. The window being formed within the through opening of the frame.
Liners and methods of making liners
The present disclosure relates to liners and methods of making liners. The liners may be suitable for use with tanks and other storage/containment vessels, such as process tanks, immersion tanks, indoor or outdoor containment pits, gravity feed conduits (e.g., concrete trench, canal, or drain, etc.) for transferring or conveying liquid, grain storage tanks or containers (e.g., dielectric or electrically non-conductive liners for grain storage, etc.), etc.
Trim part for a motor vehicle, as well as method and device for its manufacture
The present disclosure pertains to a trim part for a motor vehicle that comprises: a carrier; and a decorative material applied onto an upper surface of the carrier, wherein the decorative material comprises a printed thermoplastic film; and wherein the trim part is shaped by a deep-drawing process and a grain or impression is produced on the visible side of the film, which faces away from the carrier, by the deep-drawing process. A method and a device for manufacturing the trim part is also proposed.
Method for manufacturing a vane from a composite material with a fitted metal leading edge for a gas turbine
A method for manufacturing a vane from a composite material with a fitted metal leading edge includes the successive draping, on a template of the leading edge of the vane to be manufactured, of a first layer of a base material and of a second layer of an adhesive material, the transfer of the first and second draped layers in the recess of a metal foil, the positioning of the foil including the first and second draped layers alongside the leading edge of a vane preform including a fiber reinforcement impregnated with a precursor of a matrix, the co-curing of the vane preform and of the first and second draped layers so as to obtain a vane made of composite material including on its leading edge a bonded metal foil.
Structural rework of cellular core panels
Methods for reworking structures and reworked cellular core panels, reworked structures comprising the reworked cellular core panels, and guides and cutting apparatuses for reworking cellular acoustic panels and reworking cellular acoustic and non-acoustic panels are disclosed.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A THERMOPLASTIC CONTAINER AND SYSTEM FOR PULLING A TUBE APART
A method for manufacturing a thermoplastic container may include locally heating a middle zone of a thermoplastic tube; gripping the tube on either side by using retaining members; pulling the tube apart, causing a middle zone to narrow; pushing the inner wall of the middle zone against each other to obtain a closure; and cutting through the closed-off middle zone to obtain two separate tubular parts. Further is provided a system for pulling apart a tube, the system may include a first retaining member which is provided for insertion into the first zone via the first end and a second retaining member provided for insertion into the second zone via the second end, each retaining member being adjustable between a first position in which the retaining member fits inside the tube and a second position in which, in use, the retaining member exerts a pressure on the inner wall of the tube.
Clamping feet for an end effector
An attachment for an end effector. The attachment may include a clamp and a foot adhesively bonded to an edge of the clamp and having a set of interlocking features that form a mechanical interlock with the clamp.
