Disclosed in this specification is a process for manufacturing a thermochromic contact lens. The process includes (1) selecting a photoinitiator that absorbs at a first wavelength and at least one thermochromic dye that displays substantial absorption at the first wavelength when the dye is at a first temperature and exhibits at least an 80% reduction in absorbance at the first wavelength at a second temperature, (2) maintaining the reaction mixture at the second temperature and (3) providing cure light that includes the first wavelength.

Transmittance variable film, manufacturing method and use thereof

The present application relates to a transmittance variable film, a method for producing the same, and a use thereof. The transmittance variable film of the present application can solve the drive unevenness phenomenon by adjusting the pre-tilt of the opposite alignment film of the alignment film to which the ball spacer is fixed to minimize the reverse tilt occurring upon on-off driving. The transmittance variable film of the present application can be used as sunroofs.

DISTANCE MEASURING SYSTEM, LIGHT RECEIVING MODULE, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING BANDPASS FILTER
20210003672 · 2021-01-07 ·

A distance measuring system includes a light source unit that emits infrared light toward a target object, a light receiving unit that receives the infrared light from the target object, and an arithmetic processing unit that obtains information regarding a distance to the target object on the basis of data from the light receiving unit, in which an optical member including a bandpass filter that is selectively transparent to infrared light in a predetermined wavelength range is arranged on a light receiving surface side of the light receiving unit, and the bandpass filter has a concave-shaped light incident surface.

COLLIMATOR FILTER

A collimator filter (10) comprises an entry surface (11) to receive incident light (Li, Li) at different angles of incidence (i, i) and an exit surface (12) to allow output light (Lo) to exit from the collimator filter (10). A filter structure between the entry surface (11) and the exit surface (12) transmits only parts of the incident light (Li) having angles of incidence (i) below a threshold angle (max). The filter structure comprises a patterned array of carbon nanotubes (1), wherein the nanotubes (1) are aligned extending in a principal transmission direction (Z) between the entry surface (11) and the exit surface (12). The nanotubes (1) are arranged to form a two dimensional pattern (P) transverse to the principal transmission direction (Z). Open areas of the pattern (P) without nanotubes (1) form micro-apertures (A) between the nanotubes (1) for transmitting the output light (Lo) through the filter structure.

HIGH TRANSMISSION LIGHT CONTROL FILM

A light control film is described comprising alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between a light input surface and a light output surface. The absorptive regions have an aspect ratio of at least 30. In some embodiments, the alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions have a transmission as measured with a spectrophotometer at a viewing angle of 0 degrees of at least 35, 40, 45, or 50% for a wavelength of the range 320-400 nm (UV) and/or at least 65, 70, 75, or 80% for a wavelength of the range 700-1400 nm (NIR). In another embodiment, the absorptive regions block light at the light input surface and light output surface and the maximum surface area that is blocked is less than 20% of the total alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions. Also described are various optical communication systems comprising the light control films described herein and methods.
