Optical fabricating apparatus and optical fabricating method

A photocurable composition is supplied onto an auxiliary table provided to be capable of being adjacent to a fabrication table. One of the fabrication table and the auxiliary table is moved relative to the other one of the fabrication table and the auxiliary table in an up-and-down direction. The photocurable composition that has been supplied to the auxiliary table is drawn and spread by a recoater on a fabrication surface of the fabrication table or on a cured composition layer. The photocurable composition on the fabrication surface of the fabrication table is exposed by an exposure device, so that a cured composition layer is formed.

A roll-to-roll method for manufacturing 2D/3D grating switch membrane is performed in such a way that: Step 1 and Step 2 are simultaneously performed, then Step 3 is performed, and finally Step 4 is performed: Step 1, subjecting a concave grating facing down to rubbing and liquid crystal dropping; Step 2, uniformly coating a PI liquid onto a surface layer of a mirror-face metal roller, and performing self-hating and rubbing; Step 3, making the concave grating rubbed and dropped with liquid crystals in Step 1 and PI layer coated and directionally-rubbed on the mirror-face metal roller in Step 2 attached to each other, forming a grating membrane, and rotating and pre-baking the grating membrane with the mirror-face metal roller; Step 4, curing the attached and baked grating membrane by the UV curing means and after stripping, collecting and winding through the 2D/3D grating switch membrane collecting roller.

Process for applying a film structure onto a lens blank

A process for applying a film structure onto a lens blank is improved by implementing a wedge piece when the film structure is pressed against the lens blank using a resilient cushion. The wedge piece forces the film structure to conform more tightly to the lens blank within a depression track existing on said lens blank. Then, the lens blank assembled with the film structure has a final optically useful area which is increased.

Precision coating of viscous liquids and use in forming laminates

A process including providing a coating head having an external opening in flow communication with a source of a first coating liquid, positioning the coating head relative to a substrate to define a gap between the external opening and the substrate, creating relative motion between the coating head and the substrate in a coating direction, and dispensing a predetermined quantity of the first coating liquid from the external opening onto at least a portion of at least one major surface of the substrate to form a discrete patch of the first coating liquid in a predetermined position on at least a portion of the major surface of the substrate. The first coating liquid as dispensed exhibits a viscosity of at least 1 Pascal-sec. In some exemplary embodiments, the first coating liquid is a liquid optically clear adhesive composition used in a laminate including a light emitting or reflecting device component.

METHOD OF MAKING LIGHT DIRECTING STRUCTURES
20220034479 · 2022-02-03 ·

A method of making light directing structures using a prismatic optical film and a low-refractive index resin. The prismatic optical film has a plurality of linear refractive prisms formed in its surface. The prisms extend parallel to one another and define a series of refractive walls. The resin is applied to the prism-carrying surface of the film so as to form a generally uniform optical layer. The resin may be further cured to a solid form to form a monolithic layered light bending structure incorporating an embedded corrugated optical interface with a stepped change in a refractive index and having generally smooth outer surfaces.
