Systems, articles, and methods for integrating holographic optical elements with eyeglass lenses
Systems, articles, and methods that integrate photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses are described. One or more hologram(s) may be recorded into/onto the photopolymer file to enable the lens to be used as a transparent holographic combiner in a wearable heads-up display employing an image source, such as a microdisplay or a scanning laser projector. The methods of integrating photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses include: positioning photopolymer film in a lens mold and casting the lends around the photopolymer film; sandwiching photopolymer film in between two portions of a lens' applying photopolymer film to a concave surface of a lens' and/or affixing a planar carrier (with photopolymer film thereon) to two points across a length of a concave surface of a lens. Respective lenses manufactured/adapted by each of these processes are also described.
Optical structures providing dichroic effects
A document, product, or package, such as a banknote, passport or the like comprises structures having dichroic effects that change color with viewing angle in both transmission and reflection. Such structures can be useful as security features that counter the ability to effectively use counterfeit documents, products, packages, etc.
POLARIZED LENS AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING A POLARIZED LENS
A polarized lens for eyeglasses and the like, which includes a polarizing wafer superimposed on a lens body made of polyamide material and at least one external layer of lacquering which coats externally the polarizing wafer and the lens body, The polarizing wafer includes an internal polarizing layer between a first external layer of polyamide and a second external layer of polyamide, a first layer of glue interposed between the internal polarizing layer and the first external layer of polyamide, and a second layer of glue interposed between the internal polarizing layer and the second external layer of polyamide, The at least one external layer of lacquering includes at least one polysiloxane or acrylic lacquer.
HARD SCRATCH AND SCUFF RESISTANT LOW REFLECTIVITY OPTICAL COATINGS
A protective coating for transparent panels, especially beneficial for transparent panels covering digital displays. The protective coating includes an adhesion layer formed on a surface of the transparent panel, a stress grading intermediate layer formed over the adhesion layer, a protective layer formed over the stress grading intermediate layer, and an antireflective layer formed over the protective layer. Also provided is a sputtering system for fabricating the protective coating.
EYEWEAR WITH CHROMA ENHANCEMENT
Some embodiments provide a lens including a lens body and an optical filter configured to attenuate visible light in certain spectral bands. At least some of the spectral bands can include spectral features that tend to substantially increase the colorfulness, clarity, and/or vividness of a scene. In certain embodiments, eyewear incorporates an optical filter that enhances chroma within one or more spectral bands. In some embodiments, a wearer of the eyewear can perceive the increase in chroma when viewing at least certain types of scenes.
Method for manufacturing one-piece corrective eyewear
A method for manufacturing one-piece corrective eyewear. The method includes a first step wherein an item with essentially flat blank shape is formed by a 3D-printing process. The item encompasses two lens portions, a bridge portion, and two temple portions; or the two lens portions and the bridge portion. The method includes a second step wherein the item is deformed into a wearable shape. During the first step a frame portion surrounding the lens portions is formed as part of the blank shape.
STRUCTURALLY-COLORED ARTICLES AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING STRUCTURALLY-COLORED ARTICLES
One or more aspects of the present disclosure are directed to bladders that incorporate a multi-layer optical film that impart a structural color to the bladder. The present disclosure is also directed to articles including the bladders having a multi-layer optical film, and methods for making articles and bladders having a multi-layer optical film.
FUNCTIONAL SHEET INCLUDING POLYESTER RESIN, AND LENS USING FUNCTIONAL SHEET
The present invention provides a functional sheet including a functional layer provided between protective layers. The functional layer is a polarizing film layer, a photochromic layer, or a combination of the polarizing film layer and the photochromic layer. At least one of the protective layers includes a layer formed of a resin (C) containing a polyester resin (A) obtained as a result of polycondensation of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and an aromatic polycarbonate resin (B), the polyester resin (A) being contained at a content of 10 to 100 parts by mass and the aromatic polycarbonate resin (B) being contained at a content of 0 to 90 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass as a total of the polyester resin (A) and the aromatic polycarbonate resin (B). A lens is provided with such a functional sheet.
Cast Lens
An ophthalmic lens incorporating an optically functional wafer having improved adhesion to a polymerized polyurea-urethane bulk lens resin.
Combined corrective lens and lens shield
A combined corrective lens engaged with a lens shield and method therefor is provided. The lens shield is formed of a first lens portion which is subsequently engaged with an independently formed projecting portion. One surface of the projecting portion is configured for grinding to a prescription lens. The combined lens can include light filtering medium or layers only in the projecting portion or in both the projecting portion and first lens portion since the components are formed in advance and joined.
