20220048324 · 2022-02-17 ·

A web structure for a non-pneumatic tire includes a first corrugated ring having a first plurality of peaks and a first plurality of valleys. The first corrugated ring is a metal ring. The web structure further includes a second corrugated ring having a second plurality of peaks and a second plurality of valleys. The second corrugated ring is a metal ring. The second plurality of valleys are affixed to the first plurality of peaks by brazing or welding.

SHEAR BAND CONSTRUCTION

A shear band for a tire includes an annular first, radially outer fabric layer extending circumferentially around the tire; and an annular second, radially inner fabric layer extending circumferentially around the tire. The shear band is formed from a single shear band strip helically wound circumferentially and axially with a first edge of the shear band strip. The first edge of the shear band strip has a first extension flap for engaging an opposite second edge of the shear band strip. The first extension flap is continuously secured to the opposite second edge linearly along the opposite second edge of the shear band strip.

TIRE WITH VARIABLE SHEAR ELEMENT

A tire includes a central region configured to be mounted to a wheel and a crown region including a circumferential tread and a shear element disposed below the circumferential tread. The shear element includes an upper reinforcement layer, a lower reinforcement layer, and an elastic region disposed between the upper reinforcement layer and the lower reinforcement layer. A radial distance between the upper reinforcement layer and the lower reinforcement layer varies along an axial width of the tire. The tire also includes an intermediate region extending from the central region to the crown region.

The non-pneumatic tire further includes support structure extending from the inner ring to the outer ring. The non-pneumatic tire also includes a circumferential tread extending about the outer ring. The circumferential tread includes a tread reinforcement layer spaced from a bottom of the circumferential tread.

STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR MARKING TIRES

A non-pneumatic or pneumatic tire includes an area for tire indicia or markings. The tire includes a hub region and a tread layer. The tread layer of the tire has a shoulder with a cut out extending either partially or entirely around the shoulder of the tire tread layer. The angle of the notched or beveled portion is 45-135° with respect to an axial direction along the tread layer shoulder, and at least one indicia disposed on the at least one flat surface. The placement of the markings may be radially along the surface of the cut out portion or axially along the surface of the cut out portion. The markings may be recessed, stamped, molded, painted or applied with ink to the cut out portion. Alternatively, the indicia or marking may be applied to a decal and applied to the cut out portion.

NON-PNEUMATIC TIRE FABRICATED IN ONE-STEP MOLDING
