An absorbent core comprising substantially continuous zones of one or more high fluid distribution structures and discontinuous zones of fluid absorption structures surrounding the one or more high fluid distribution structures, wherein the one or more high fluid distribution structures are arranged to distribute fluid across the absorbent core at a speed that is faster than the speed of fluid distribution across the absorbent core by said discontinuous fluid absorption structures, and wherein said continuous zones extend along a path that is substantially parallel to at least a portion of the perimeter of the core, said portion of the perimeter of the core comprising at least a portion of the sides of the core and one of the ends of the core.

Woven hats and methods for manufacturing woven hats by using an ultrasonic sewing technology without a sewing thread are disclosed. One illustrative method comprises steps such as: cutting a raw material of a hat crown into a plurality of pieces, then bonding such material in pairs using an ultrasonic sewing machine, applying to seam areas a hot-pressing bonding technology of heat-seal adhesive tape, and/or otherwise completing the manufacturing of the hat crown; manufacturing a visor by using a high-frequency hot-pressing technology; manufacturing a sweatband by using a one-time hot-pressing technology; bonding the hat crown, the visor, and the sweatband with an ultrasonic sewing machine; and fixing a rear fastener or a tail belt through rivets. The disclosed technology makes it easier to realize intelligent and automatic reformation of the manufacturing line.

The liners include a fluid impermeable enclosure having cavities with sidewalls and a fluid contained in the enclosure. The enclosure may have a central portion and lobes extending from the central portion, wherein the central portion and the lobes are adapted to conform to the shape of an internal surface of a helmet. The helmets may include bodies positioned within the cavities of the liner, where, under impact loading, contact between the bodies and the liner absorbs at least some of the energy of the impact loading. Aspects of the invention are particularly adapted for use for head protection, such as, helmets; however, aspects of the invention are also adaptable to provide impact-dissipation for any body or surface that would benefit from such protection.

A mold is formed with a cavity defining a non-uniformed prescribed shape and having sections of different shapes and depths. Down feather clusters or a mixture thereof is mixed with a binding material and is injected into the mold which is then heated with a suitable heat source to cause the binding material to soften and fuse the mixture together. After cooling the mold, there is formed a single piece, shaped, down feather article which is comprised of sections having different thermal insulating values for use in a product where parts of the product provide different thermal insulating properties.
