Spill resistant disposable travel cup lid
09833960 · 2017-12-05 ·

A disposable drink-through dome lid for disposable drinking cups used in the sale of hot or cold beverages, the top of the lid elevated above the top of the beverage cup when in place. The lid's outer wall is elevated to form a drink ridge adapted to the user's lips for drinking through a generally oval-shaped drink-through orifice. Ideally, the drink-through orifice includes: a drink-through chamber having a drink flap capable of closing off a drink-through opening, thereby shielding against accidental spillage due to sloshing of the beverage while traveling; and a recessed orifice ridge on the interior side of the drink-through orifice, directs froth exiting the drink opening into a spill reservoir. A vent opening positioned near the lid's center and within a vent slot, collects and directs beverage exiting the vent into the spill reservoir.

A method for fabricating a lid for attachment to a vessel having an open top surrounded by a peripheral edge portion, includes injection molding from a molten plastic material a first shot structure defining a web portion, a peripheral portion surrounding the web portion; in a second shot procedure, over-molding an elastomeric material different from said plastic material onto the first short structure to form a seal structure portion integrated with the lid portion to form a unitary lid-seal structure, wherein the seal structure portion is permanently adhered to the peripheral portion of the first shot structure, and wherein the seal structure portion is configured to provide an air-tight seal between the lid and a sealing surface portion of the peripheral edge of the vessel when the lid is attached to the vessel.

Food container top with integrally formed utensil

A molded article comprising a food container top, and a method for producing same, is disclosed. The method includes providing a mold for forming the molded article, wherein the mold defines a frame, a utensil located substantially coplanar with the frame and a frangible link between the frame and the utensil, providing an in-mold lidding film having a heat activatable lower surface, positioning the in-mold lidding film adjacent to an interior molding surface of the mold, molding the molded article from a heated thermoplastic resin contained within the mold, whereby the heated thermoplastic resin contacts a perimeter of the heat-activatable lower surface of the in-mold lidding film, and the perimeter of the heat-activatable lower surface of the in-mold lidding film is molded to the frame of the article such that the in-mold lidding film hermetically seals an opening defined by the frame.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A CLOSURE FOR A PRODUCT-RETAINING CONTAINER

A method for manufacturing a closure constructed for being inserted and securely retained in a portal-forming neck of a product-retaining container is provided. Such method may include intimately combining a plurality of particles comprising cork and having a specified particle size distribution with a plastic material including one or more thermoplastic polymers, optionally in combination with other constituent(s) to form a composition, heating the composition to form a melt, extruding or molding a closure precursor from the melt to provide a specified water content range, and optionally cutting and/or finishing the closure precursor. A composition for use in manufacturing a closure for a product-retaining container includes a plurality of particles comprising cork and having a specified particle size distribution with a plastic material including one or more thermoplastic polymer, optionally in combination with other constituent(s). Methods for producing particulate material, cork composite material, additional methods for producing closures, and resulting closures are also provided.

COLLECTING AND HARVESTING CUT BONE FROM KERRISON RONGEUR
20170325908 · 2017-11-16 ·

A collector includes a container body defining an interior containment space and having an open end for access, and a cap in covering relation to the open end and having an opening for receiving therein a distal end of a kerrison-type rongeur. An improvement includes the cap including a first plurality of scrapers in the form of fingers for engaging and dislodging cut bone from the cutting area of the distal end of the rongeur and a second plurality of scrapers in the form of wipers for engaging and dislodging cut bone from the cutting area of the distal end of the rongeur when the distal end of the rongeur is withdrawn through the opening from the collector, the second plurality being arranged so as to permit insertion of the distal end of the rongeur through the opening into the collector without engaging the distal end of the rongeur.

Improvements for Containers and Covers

A device and system that can perform bi-directional gas and fluid communication, thereby preventing the accidental spill and splash of sloshing liquids through the sip-hole orifice of a liquid container and/or the sip-hole orifice of its lid, but that still allows liquid to flow through the sip-hole. This is achieved by cutting into the sip-hole, extending the sip-hole and creating a tubular flow-path or labyrinth flow-path that can channel and direct the flow of liquid into a controlled and desired flow and rate via an inlet configured to do so, and by adding a removable plug. These elements help to buffer and deflect sloshing liquid thereby minimizing or preventing the accidental release of liquid, and in many cases improving the purposeful flow of liquid back into the container.

Double tamper evidence cap for a neck of a container, system including said cap and a container and method for manufacturing said cap

The invention pertains to a screw cap for a neck of a bottle composed of an upper part removeable from the neck and a lower park non-removeable from the neck and which is a tamper evidence band (TEB) linked to the cap's skirt by frangible connection bridges designed to be broken at the first licit opening of the bottle. TEB also displays any breaking of the cap before the first container opening, thanks to additional lower markers which are composed of annularly regularly distributed frangible connection bridges. Upper frangible bridges and lower frangible bridges are below the top edge of the neck in the original closed position of the cap and define a top ring of the TEB which is intact after the first licit opening.

DEVICE FOR TESTING A CONNECTION OF A GUARANTEE STRIP OF A SECURITY SEAL OF A CLOSURE LID HAVING A LID MAIN BODY

The invention relates to a device (100) for testing a connection of a guarantee strip (3.1) of a security seal of a closure lid (1.1) having a lid main body (2.1), which device comprises a driver element (180) for gripping the guarantee strip (3.1) and a stop element (780) for the lid main body (2.1). The driver element (180) and the stop element (170) are movable relative to each other such that a tear-off force can be exerted on the guarantee strip (3.1). The device (100) also comprises a force-measuring device (171), for measuring the tear-off force during the relative movement of the guarantee strip (3.1) and the lid main body (2.1), and a separating device (191, 192) for severing the guarantee strip (3.1) after it has been tom off from the lid main body (2.1). This allows the guarantee strip (3.1) to be severed and thereby results in a considerable simplification of the removal of the guarantee strip (3.1) from the testing device, in particular if the testing device is designed such that the tom-off guarantee strips (3.1) are slid onto the stop element (170). The device (100) can be operated in a fully automatic manner and can be integrated in a system for producing closure lids having guarantee strips.
