METHOD FOR WELDING TWO DIFFERENT POLYOLEFIN PLASTICS
The invention relates to a method for welding two different polyolefin plastics using a primer, said primer containing at least one maleic anhydride graft polyolefin polymer. The invention also relates to correspondingly welded products.
Post-consumer scrap film recycling system and process
A system for processing a supply of post-consumer scrap linear low density or low density polyethylene film into near-virgin quality blown film product. The system includes tearing the supply of film in a shredder, wherein the surface area of the film is exposed, including delaminating the film. The torn supply of film is washed in a hot water bath including a surfactant. The film is agitated in the bath containing the surfactant wherein contaminants on the film are removed from the film. The washed film is ground into smaller pieces and additional washing of the ground film in a rotating friction washer occurs wherein additional contaminants are removed from the film. The ground film is then dried in a dryer and compacted in a compactor without addition of water into granulated objects of near-virgin quality blown film product.
Asymmetric membranes and related methods
Microporous polymer membranes and related methods of fabrication are provided. An asymmetric microporous membrane embodiment includes, but is not limited to, a thermoplastic polymer substrate defining a plurality of micropores, the thermoplastic polymer including one or more of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polymethylpentene (PMP), and a combination thereof; and a polymethylpentene (PMP) polymer skin positioned on the thermoplastic polymer substrate, wherein when the thermoplastic polymer substrate includes PMP, the PMP polymer skin has a crystallinity that differs from a crystallinity of the PMP in the polymer substrate.
Heat shrinkable polyolefin film and a preparation method thereof
The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented polyolefin multilayer heat shrinkable film, which is a multilayer heat shrinkable film with at least three laminated layers, and has internal and external surface layers of a resin composition comprising 70-80 wt % of an ethylene-norbornene copolymer having a glass-transition temperature (Tg) of 138 C. and a norbornene content of 76 wt %, and 20-30 wt % of an ethylene-propylene random copolymer having a melting point (Tm) of 140 C.; and a core layer comprising 54 wt % of an ethylene-propylene random copolymer having Tm of 140 C., 8 wt % of an ethylene-butylene random copolymer having Tm of 66 C., 20 wt % of an ethylene-norbornene copolymer having Tg of 78 C. and norbornene content of 65 wt %, and 18 wt % of a hydrogenated petroleum resin having softening point (Ts) of 140 C. The present invention provides a polyolefin heat shrinkable film and a method for preparing the same, the film has good temperature resistance, high transversal heat shrinkage rate, solves the problem that labels among bottles are easy to adhere between each other during hot filling drink or the problem about adhesion between labels and PE heat-shrinkable film in bundle-shrink pack of a group of bottles using the PE heat-shrinkable film, and is suitably used as label substrate material for contoured bottles.
Method for manufacturing a fuel tank and fuel tank
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a fuel tank on the basis of thermoplastic material, the method comprising the following method steps: producing semifinished products in sheet form from a fiber composite material with a matrix of thermoplastic material, laminating the semifinished products with a laminate that comprises at least one barrier layer for hydrocarbons, heat-treating the laminated semifinished products until the thermoplastic material plasticizes, thermoforming the plasticized semifinished products in a thermoforming mold to form shells and joining the shells to form an essentially closed tank.

BREATHABLE AND MICROPOROUS THIN THERMOPLASTIC FILM
Breathable, thermoplastic films, laminates, and methods of making films having a basis weight less than or equal to 15 gsm and a water vapor transmission rate of at least about 500 grams H.sub.2O/24-hour/m.sup.2, wherein the film has a ratio of the MD load at break to the CD load at break of less than about 10, and at least one of a machine-direction notched Elmendorf tear strength of at least about 5 g or a machine-direction notched trapezoidal tear strength of at least about 15 g.
METHOD FOR PREPARING THE INTERNAL SHELL OF A COMPOSITE TYPE IV RESERVOIR FOR STORING PRESSURIZED FLUID
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an internal shell of a composite type IV reservoir delimiting an internal cavity intended to accommodate a pressurized fluid and comprising at least one metal baseplate allowing connection between said internal cavity and the outside of the internal shell, said baseplate or baseplates being secured to the internal shell, said method comprising the following steps: a) a step of applying at least one adhesive layer of a first polymer to the part or parts of the metal baseplate or baseplates intended to be in direct contact with the material of which the internal shell is made; b) a step of incorporating said baseplate or baseplates thus coated into a mould the internal cavity of which is of a shape that corresponds to the shape of the internal shell that is to be obtained; c) a step of forming, on the internal wall of the mould and on the part or parts of the baseplate or baseplates intended to be in contact with the material of which the internal shell is made, at least one layer of a second polymer different from said first polymer and adhering to the first polymer, thus forming the aforementioned internal shell equipped with the aforementioned baseplate or baseplates.
