Welding apparatus
A welding apparatus is suitable for welding polymeric materials, and particularly but not exclusively those that may be thin or brittle. A welding apparatus is provided for welding polymeric materials along a weld zone of the polymeric material. The welding apparatus has a carrier for supplying heat to the weld zone to cause melting of the polymeric material, wherein the heating element is arranged to reciprocate relative to the carrier between a retracted and an extended configuration, such that as the element moves from the retracted to the extended configuration the heating element melts and penetrates the surface of the polymeric material. The carrier also has a trailing contact surface trailing the heating element along the weld zone arranged to constrain molten polymeric material in the weld zone. The heating element is also arranged to reciprocate relative to the trailing contact surface.
Active grille, scalable design
An active grille shutter arrangement having an assembled modular frame with a plurality of primary frame pieces formed by extrusion. Each one of the plurality of primary frame pieces has a first end, a second end and at least one key slot extending between the first end and the second end. Each of the plurality of frame pieces also includes a hollow bore extending through the each one of the plurality of primary frame pieces forming an aperture at the first end and an aperture at the second end. When the modular frame is assembled there is an upper frame portion and lower frame portion, both formed from one of the plurality of primary frame pieces. The arrangement also includes a number of alternate frame and vane pieces that allow several different active grille shapes and configurations to be formed.
MODULAR THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE STRUCTURES
A method for bonding thermoplastic fiber-composite parts comprises providing surface texture on one or both parts being bonded, and/or providing both parts with engagement features. Such surface textures and engagement features have a specific geometry and fiber alignment that facilitate fibrous interlock between the two parts at a bonding interface via in-situ consolidation.

MOLDED BODY, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING MOLDED BODY
A molded body, comprising a resin and cells, the cells having an average diameter of from 0.03 mm to 0.13 mm, and a number per unit area of the cells at a cross-section of the molded body being no less than 20 cells/mm.sup.2.
Bonding objects together
A method of bonding a first object to a second object includes the steps of: providing the first object including thermoplastic material in a solid state, providing the second object including a proximal surface, applying a mechanical pressing force and a mechanical excitation capable to liquefy the thermoplastic material until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material is flowable and penetrates into structures of the second object, and stopping the mechanical excitation and letting the thermoplastic material resolidify to yield a positive-fit connection between the first and the second object. The second object has a region of low density, wherein the protrusion penetrates the region of low density at least partly before the thermoplastic material is made flowable, and wherein the first object includes a protruding portion after the step of letting the thermoplastic material resolidify, the protruding portion at least partly penetrates the region of low density.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A FINISHED PART
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a finished part comprising: a step of placing a trimmed finishing shell inside a heated mold chosen from a first mold referred to as a female mold and a second mold referred to as a male mold in the form of a punch, a step of heating a structural part made of a composite material up to its melting point, a step of placing the structural part on the finishing shell, a step of shaping the structural part against the finishing shell by means of the male mold in the form of a punch cooperating with the female mold, such that the finishing shell is fixed to the structural part that was shaped to obtain the finished part.
