OPTICAL ARTICLES COMPRISING PHOTOCHROMIC POLY(UREA-URETHANE)
A process for producing a photochromic eyewear lens. In one embodiment at least a layer of modified photochromic poly(urea-urethane) is formed by combining photochromic material and the reaction product of a polyurethane pre-polymer and a mixture of diethyltoluene diamine and one or more polyols, plus catalyst. The mixture comprises both NH.sub.2 and OH reactive groups, with at least 0.04 equivalent weights of OH reactive species available for reaction with each 1.0 equivalent weight of excess NCO reactive species available in the pre-polymer. The lens comprising the modified photochromic poly(urea-urethane) can exhibit faster fade-back rates and better photochromic performance than lenses with non-modified poly(urea-urethane).
Flexible pipe and coupling therefor
Embodiments of the invention relate to the construction of a sealed connection between an elastomeric or synthetic polymer flexible pipe or hose and a metallic coupling member. The coupling member surrounds an armor layer at a free end of the flexible pipe or hose. A sealing area is defined by a recessed portion of the pipe coupling into which a sealing material is introduced. An inner layer of the flexible pipe or hose may extend into the sealing area where it is bonded to the sealing material. The sealing material and the inner liner layer may each be comprised of a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material. Furthermore, a reinforcement material is provided in the inner layer.

Methods of Making Three Dimensional Objects from Dual Cure Resins with Supported Second Cure
A method of forming a three-dimensional object is carried out by: (a) providing a carrier and an optically transparent member having a build surface, the carrier and the build surface defining a build region therebetween; (b) filling the build region with a polymerizable liquid, the polymerizable liquid comprising a mixture of (i) a light polymerizable liquid first component, and (ii) a second solidifiable component that is different from the first component; and (c) irradiating the build region with light through the optically transparent member to form a solid polymer scaffold from the first component and also advancing the carrier away from the build surface to form a three-dimensional intermediate having the same shape as, or a shape to be imparted to, the three-dimensional object and containing the second solidifiable component carried in the scaffold in unsolidified and/or uncured form; then (d) supporting the three dimensional intermediate with a separate support media; then (e) solidifying and/or curing the second solidifiable component in the three-dimensional intermediate to form the three-dimensional object in the support media; and then (f) separating the support media from the three-dimensional object.
BONDED PERMANENT MAGNETS PRODUCED BY ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
A method for producing a bonded permanent magnet by additive manufacturing, the method comprising: (i) incorporating components of a reactive precursor material into an additive manufacturing device, the reactive precursor material comprising an amine component, an isocyanate component, and particles having a permanent magnetic composition; and (ii) mixing and extruding the crosslinkable reactive precursor material through a nozzle of the additive manufacturing device and depositing the extrudate onto a substrate under conditions where the extrudate is permitted to cure, to produce a bonded permanent magnet of desired shape. The resulting bonded permanent magnet and articles made thereof are also described.
Polyurea resins having multiple mechanisms of hardening for use in producing three-dimensional objects
A polymerizable liquid, or resin, useful for the production by additive manufacturing of a three-dimensional object of polyurethane, polyurea, or a copolymer thereof, is described. The resin includes at least one of (i) a blocked or reactive blocked prepolymer, (ii) a blocked or reactive blocked diisocyanate, or (iii) a blocked or reactive blocked diisocyanate chain extender.
