LAMINATE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LAMINATE, AND SHAPE CONTROL DEVICE
A laminate including a base member, and a hydrogel layer whose forming material is a hydrogel, the hydrogel layer being provided on a surface of the base member. An adhesive region and a non-adhesive region are formed at an interface between the base member and the hydrogel layer, the adhesive region being a region where the base member and the hydrogel layer adhere to each other, the non-adhesive region being a region where the base member and the hydrogel layer do not adhere to each other.
Fused Deposition Modeling Mixing Extruder Coupled to an External Energy Source
Methods and systems for use in additive manufacturing are described. Methods include heating a precursor material in a mixing area upstream of a print head nozzle. An energy emission is delivered to the precursor material prior to extrusion at the nozzle. The energy emission encouraging reaction of components in the precursor material to form a solid product of the extrudate such as a polymer, a crosslinked polymeric matrix, and/or a particulate. Systems include a mixing area upstream of a nozzle and an energy source configured to deliver an emission into the mixing area at or near the nozzle outlet.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING WITH DUAL PRECUSOR RESINS
Apparatus for, and associated method of, making a three-dimensional object from a light polymerizable resin by inkjet additive manufacturing are described. The methods and apparatus employ dual precursor resins, including but not limited to dual cure resins having a first component photopolymerizable and a second component polymerizable by a mechanism different from the first component.
ELASTOMERIC COPOLYMERS WITH A HIGH SULFUR CONTENT AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION
Elastomeric copolymer with a high sulfur content, comprising sulfur in a quantity higher than or equal to 40% by weight, preferably ranging from 55% by weight to 90% by weight, with respect to the total weight of said elastomeric copolymer, and at least one monomer having general formula (I): CH.sub.2═CH—(CH.sub.2).sub.y-(X).sub.n-(X).sub.m-(CH.sub.2).sub.x—CH═CH.sub.2 (I) wherein: X represents a sulfur atom, a selenium atom, a tellurium atom, preferably a sulfur atom, a selenium atom; y and x, equal to or different from one another, are a whole number ranging from 0 to 4; n and m, equal to or different from one another, are a whole number ranging from 0 to 3, at least one of n and m being equal to 1; said monomer being present in a quantity lower than or equal to 60% by weight, preferably ranging from 10% by weight to 45% by weight, with respect to the total weight of said elastomeric copolymer; provided that, in the case wherein in said general formula (I) X is sulfur, y and x are 1, at least one of n and m must be different from 1 and the sum of n+m must be different from 1. Said elastomeric copolymer with a high sulfur content can be advantageously used in a great many applications such as, for example, thermal insulation, conveyor
CYCLOPOLYMERIZABLE COMPOUNDS FOR 3D PRINTING
In one aspect, inks for use with a three-dimensional (3D) printing system are described herein. In some embodiments, an ink described herein comprises 10-70 wt. % cyclopolymerizable monomer, based on the total weight of the ink. The cyclopolymerizable monomer comprises a first ethenyl or ethynyl moiety and a second ethenyl or ethynyl moiety. Additionally, the α-carbon of the first ethenyl or ethynyl moiety and the α-carbon of the second ethenyl or ethynyl moiety have a 1,5-, 1,6-, 1,7-, or 1,8-relationship.
Apparatus for forming an ophthalmic lens
This invention discloses apparatus for generating an ophthalmic lens with at least a portion of one surface free-formed from a Reactive Mixture. In some embodiments, an ophthalmic lens is formed on a substrate with an arcuate optical quality surface via a source of actinic radiation controllable to cure a definable portion of a volume of Reactive Mixture.
Actinic Radiation Curable Polymeric Mixtures, Cured Polymeric Mixtures And Related Processes
The present disclosure is directed to actinic radiation curable polymeric mixtures, cured polymeric mixtures, tires and tire components made from the foregoing, and related processes.
OLEIC ACID-RELEASING CONTACT LENS
An oleic acid-releasing contact lens is described as well as method of manufacturing the same. The oleic acid-releasing contact lens contains oleic acid releasably adhered to the polymeric lens body, and releases from 2 μg to 25 μg oleic acid after 1 hour in a release media. The oleic acid-releasing contact lens can be comfortably worn by a symptomatic contact lens wearer, and can increase the duration of comfortable lens wearing time and/or reduce lens awareness events in a symptomatic contact lens wearer.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTING CONTROL
A three-dimensional (3D) object production system and methods for 3D printing reactive components to form a thermoset product. The disclosure relates to Use of a 3D printer having a controller comprising one or more processors to print a 3D object. The disclosure also provides a 3D object production system and methods for 3D printing comprising adjusting one or more parameters of an at least one actuator to produce a 3D object based on a reaction rate between reactive components.
LAYERED SORBENT STRUCTURES
A shaped sorbent is described comprising a plurality of layers of photopolymerised resin containing particles of a sorbent material. The shaped sorbent may be used as a getter for use in gettering one or more contaminants in a sealed enclosure.
