Said crosslinkable composition can advantageously be used in rotational molding (“rotomolding”).
Methods of manufacturing articles utilizing foam particles
Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the additive manufacturing methods comprise increasing the temperature of a plurality of foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to fuse a portion of the plurality of foam particles comprising one or more thermoplastic elastomers. Increasing the temperature of the foam particles can be carried out for one or multiple iterations. The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.
Method of making an overmolded waterway connection
A process for providing an overmolded waterway comprising inserting a shaft portion of a sacrificial core into an end of a tube, the shaft portion having a first opening therein, the sacrificial core having a second portion comprising a second opening and a contact surface about the second opening, the second opening in fluid communication with the first opening and the inside of the tube, in a mold cavity inserting a core pin transverse to the tube end, the sacrificial core contact surface engaging a mating surface of the core pin closing the second opening, injection overmolding over a portion of the tube end and core pin forming an overmolded waterway having an outlet portion in fluid communication with the second opening and the inside of the tube, and removing the core pin from the second opening through the outlet portion and removing the overmolded waterway from the mold cavity.
PROCESS FOR THE RECOVERY AND DEVULCANIZATION OF CROSS-LINKED RUBBER
A process for recovery and devulcanization of vulcanized rubber is provided. The process takes place in a plant including a mill for grinding vulcanized rubber into particles, a twin-screw extruder provided with a device for forced feeding of vulcanized rubber particles and a thermostatting device, a single-screw extruder arranged downstream of the twin-screw extruder and equipped with a thermostatting device, a filter for devulcanized rubber and an extrusion die shaped like a slot, from the which devulcanized rubber comes out in the form of a strip or sheet, and a cooling device for the devulcanized rubber strip or sheet. The twin-screw extruder operates at a temperature between 35 and 450° C., with a rotation speed of the screws between 15 and 600 rpm, and a torque density between 11 and 18 Nm/cm.sup.3, so that the shear rate remains constant for the entire longitudinal extension of the twin-screw extruder.
Universal Orthogonal Network Bioinks for Three-Dimensional Bioprinting
A method of bioprinting a bioink printed structure and a bioprinted composition resulting from this method is provided. Biological cells are mixed with biomaterial inks. These biomaterial inks have a biopolymer backbone with grafted thereto a first bio-orthogonal chemical group. The mixed biological cells and biomaterial inks are extruded into a support bath. The next step is diffusing crosslinking molecules which have a second (complementary to the first) bio-orthogonal chemical group, in the support bath, whereby the diffusing crosslinking molecules react via bioorthogonal click-chemistry between the first and second bio-orthogonal chemical groups resulting in covalently crosslinking the biomaterial ink into a printed structure. Embodiments of this invention can be directed towards personalized medicine and printed tissue engineering constructs, as well as drug discovery by printing complex tissue mimics or printing model vasculature for studying cardiovascular disease.
Composite article with expandable elastomer in compression
A composite article having an elastomeric composition with a blowing agent having an activation temperature and providing at least one structural member defining a fixed gap. The composition is formed below the blowing agent's activation temperature into a solid elastomeric member approximately the thickness of or larger than the gap. The elastomeric member is assembled into the gap, which may place the elastomeric member in a state of compression in the gap. The elastomeric member is then expanded by heating it above the activation temperature. During expansion, the escape of the gas produced is limited to increase the state of compression of the elastomer in the gap by means of confining any free surfaces or by including a platy filler such as nanoclay in the composition.
METHOD FOR CREATING A FOAMED MASS SYSTEM
A method for producing a foamed thermally crosslinked mass system, wherein the mass system is foamed at a first temperature in a first step, and crosslinker substances are added to the mass system in a subsequent step at a second temperature lower than the first temperature, wherein the crosslinker substances are crosslinker substances for thermal crosslinking of the mass system.
