Biodegradable, industrially compostable, and recyclable injection molded microcellular flexible foams
This document discloses a process for manufacturing recyclable injection molded microcellular foams for use in, footwear components, seating components, protective gear components, and watersport accessories. The process includes the steps of providing a thermoplastic polymer which comprises at least one monomer derived from depolymerized post-consumer plastic, inserting a fluid into a barrel of a molding apparatus. The fluid is introduced under temperature and pressure conditions to produce a super critical fluid. The process further includes mixing the thermoplastic polymer and super critical fluid so as to create a single phase solution, and injecting the single phase solution into a mold of an injection molding machine under gas counter pressure. The process further includes foaming the single phase solution by controlling the head and temperature conditions within the mold.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TREATING INCOHERENT MATERIAL
An analysis method and apparatus for treating polymer granules at least part of which comes from post-consumer recycling, in which a flow of a process gas is purified from contaminating vapours by traversing, in sequence, first a dust collector filter that retains the solid particles contained in the gas, then a first side of a gas/gas heat exchanger in which the process gas surrenders heat, then a condenser in which the process gas is cooled to below the boiling point of the contaminating vapours to form condensate, then a second side of the exchanger in which the process gas recovers a part of the previously transferred heat, to then enter a container where the polymer granules are treated.
COMPONENT FOR A WATER BEARING APPLIANCE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUCH COMPONENT
An aesthetic component for a water bearing appliance. The component comprises a first polymeric material and a second polymeric material. The external surface of the component is at least partially constituted by the first polymeric material and the first polymeric material covers the second polymeric material. The second polymeric material comprises a recycled polymeric material.
Polyethylene terephthalate coloring systems and methods
Method and system for manufacturing bulked continuous filament having tonal coloring from PET comprising: an extruder (202); a static mixing assembly (208) coupled to the extruder and comprising a housing and one or more individual static mixing elements disposed within the housing; the method and system further comprising a plurality of colorant ports along a length of the static mixing assembly such that each of the plurality of colorant ports is configured to provide colorant (204) to a polymer stream at a different location along the length of the static mixing assembly, and one or more spinning machines (212) positioned downstream of the static mixing assembly and coupled to the static mixing assembly to receive the colored polymer stream. The spinning machine(s) may be configured to form the colored polymer stream into bulked continuous carpet filament having a tonal color effect.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING FLAME RETARDANT POLYCARBONATE RESIN COMPOSITION PELLET
A method for producing a polycarbonate resin composition pellet with a twin screw extruder, the polycarbonate resin composition pellet has 30 to 95 mass % of a resin pellet (A) containing more than 40 mass % of a polycarbonate resin in the pellet; not less than 5 mass % and less than 40 mass % of a phosphate ester flame retardant (B) that is a liquid at room temperature; 0 to 50 mass % of polycarbonate resin flake (C); 0 to 30 mass % of an ABS resin (D); and 0 to 15 mass % of an additive (E) other than component (B). The method includes feeding components (A), (C), (D) and (E) in a twin screw extruder and kneading with a first kneading zone; feeding component (B) to a downstream part in the first kneading zone and kneading with a second kneading zone; and decompressing a vent in the downstream part in the second kneading zone.
Black polyester film and method for manufacturing the same
A black polyester film and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The method for manufacturing the black polyester film includes: providing a recycled polyester material; physically regenerating a part of the recycled polyester material to form physically regenerated polyester chips having a first intrinsic viscosity; chemically regenerating another part of the recycled polyester material to form chemically regenerated polyester chips having a second intrinsic viscosity lower than the first intrinsic viscosity; mixing black regenerated polyester chips, the physically regenerated polyester chips, and the chemically regenerated polyester chips according to a predetermined intrinsic viscosity so as to form a polyester chip raw material; melting and then extruding the polyester chips raw material to form the black polyester film having the predetermined intrinsic viscosity.
