Methods of producing thermoplastic composites using fabric-based thermoplastic prepregs
A thermoplastic product includes a fabric-based reinforcing sheet and a polymerized thermoplastic material. The fabric-based reinforcing sheet is wound about a mandrel to form a plurality of layers having a cross-sectional shape that corresponds to the mandrel. The fabric-based reinforcing sheet includes a plurality of fiber bundles, which may have a bidirectional orientation or configuration. A polymerized thermoplastic material is disposed within each layer of the fabric-based reinforcing sheet. The polymerized thermoplastic material bonds each layer of the fabric-based reinforcing sheet to an adjacent layer.
Continuous fibrous tape comprising fibres and method for making such tape
The invention relates to a continuous fibrous tape comprising a substantially planar sheet of natural fibres of length Li. The sheet has a longitudinal dimension L and a transverse dimension w. The sheet comprises planar units positioned in n longitudinal lines. The planar units of adjoining longitudinal lines are misaligned by a misalignment distance Lv, with Lv being at least 3 w/n. Furthermore if the misalignment distance Lv between planar units of a first longitudinal line and the planar units of a second longitudinal line is less than 3 w/n, then there are at least two longitudinal lines positioned between the first longitudinal line and the second longitudinal line. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing such a continuous fibrous tape and to the use of such a continuous fibrous tape to manufacture a composite article.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A CELLULOSE PRODUCT, CELLULOSE PRODUCT FORMING APPARATUS AND CELLULOSE PRODUCT
A method for manufacturing a cellulose product, comprising the steps: dry forming a cellulose blank in a dry forming unit; arranging the cellulose blank in a forming mould; heating the cellulose blank to a forming temperature in the range of 100° C. to 200° C.; and pressing the cellulose blank in the forming mould with a forming pressure of at least 1 MPa.
Ultrasonic welding of fibre reinforced thermosetting resin sections
Process for forming a permanent join between two sections of fibrous material contained in a thermosetting resin matrix, said process comprising overlaying the two sections and subjecting the overlaid sections to ultrasonic welding to form a permanent join between the two sections, wherein there is no significant change in the sub-ambient Tg of the fibrous material contained in the thermosetting resin matrix in the region of the permanent join.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASING DENSITY OF STRUCTURAL COMPOSITES
In one embodiment, a method for making a high density structural composite includes depositing a plurality of fibrous materials on or adjacent a first plate or surface. A polymer liquid is deposited onto the plurality of fibrous materials to form a composite mixture. A first cyclic pressure is applied onto the composite mixture to compress the composite mixture. In some embodiments, the cyclic pressure may then be reduced to a valley pressure to complete a pressurization cycle. In some instances, the valley pressure may be below atmospheric pressure to induce trapped air and volatile gases to escape from the composite mixture before curing. The pressurization cycle may be repeated. A second pressure, which may be a constant pressure in some embodiments, may be applied to the composite mixture using, in some embodiments, a second plate until the polymer liquid has at least partially cured or partially solidified.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY BLOW MOLDING FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC HOLLOW PROFILES HAVING A CONSTANT OR CHANGING CROSS-SECTION
The invention relates to a device and a method for semi-continuous blow moulding of fiber-reinforced, thermoplastic, endless, hollow-profile-shaped components with longitudinally constant or varying cross-sections, consisting of at least one consolidation tool, which, in its closed state, encloses a preform enclosing an elastically moldable pressure chamber.
FIBRE REINFORCED POLYMER TUBE
The present disclosure relates to a fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) tube, the tube comprising a plurality of concentric layers of an FRP material forming a shell of the tube. At least one blind threaded longitudinal bolt hole is provided from a transverse end surface of the shell. The bolt hole extends in at least three of the plurality of layers, a middle layer encompassing a plane passing through a center of the bolt hole, an inner layer encompassing a plane of an innermost extent of the bolt hole, and an outer layer encompassing a plane of an outermost extent of the bolt hole. The fibre filament of each of the inner and outer layers has been wound at a first angle to the longitudinal axis and the fibre filament of the middle layer has been wound at a second angle to the longitudinal axis.
