A beverage cartridge and method for forming a beverage includes dispensing beverage material from a container into an attached mixing funnel. The container and mixing funnel may be moved toward each other to open the container and release beverage material. A cover of the container may have a movable portion that moves with contact with a part of the mixing funnel to open the container. The cartridge may be vibrated to dispense beverage material from the container, and liquid provided to the mixing funnel to mix with dispensed beverage material to form a beverage.

A granulated nutritional supplement dispensing machine extracts single-serving doses from a multi-serving supplements cartridge for delivery as a drinkable solution. A lead serving chamber is pierced so that its powered contents drain into a mixing cup together with a metered quantity of water from an integrated water tank. A vibrator unit assists drainage of the granulated materials from the lead serving chamber. The mixing cup is rotated at high speed to blend the water and supplements into a slurry. The supplements cartridge is indexed after (or before) use so that an unopened serving chamber is presented each time for extracting its supplements. A system for dispensing fluid is provided in which a first fluid cartridge and a second fluid cartridge each comprise a first spout at corresponding fluid outlets, and wherein a docking location is provided for docking each of the fluid cartridges such that the first spout is adjacent the second spout. The system may further comprise a drop sensor for detecting a number of drops dispensed from the fluid cartridges at a drop detection location. The docking location may define a specific orientation for any cartridge docked at the docking location, and the cartridges may be wedge shaped and may each taper towards their corresponding spouts. A system for dispensing individual servings of a beverage, said system comprising: a beverage receptacle holder adapted for retaining a beverage receptacle; a plurality of dry formulation beverage mixtures; selection means for selecting one or more of said beverage mixtures for said beverage; dispensing means for measuring an individual serving quantity of said selected one or more beverage mixtures and for depositing said individual serving quantity into said beverage receptacle; fluid dispensing module for depositing an individual serving quantity of a selected fluid into said beverage receptacle; means for sealing said beverage receptacle; and means for mixing said individual serving quantity of said beverage mixture and said fluid to provide a mixed beverage for dispensing.
