Single Serve Beverage Dispenser for a Refrigerator Appliance
A brew module for use with a refrigerator appliance is provided. The brew module includes a brewing body and a pivotally attached lid that together define a brew chamber configured to receive a brew pod. A lower needle is positioned at the bottom of the brew chamber and an upper needle is slidably received within the lid. Pivoting the lid to the closed position forces the lower needle to pierce the brew pod first, thereby relieving any built up pressure. Thereafter, a moving water supply tube drives the upper needle downward to pierce a top cover of the brew pod along a substantially vertical direction, thus minimizing the size of the pierced hole in the top cover. The brew module thus facilitates an improved seal with the brew pod, reduces the risk of clogging the upper needle, and prevents the ejection of brew pod contents.
CENTRIFUGAL COFFEE BREWER
The present invention relates to a centrifugal coffee brewing device, comprising: a spinning assembly which is rotatable about a main axis, the spinning assembly comprising: a chamber element comprising a bottom wall, a cylinder element comprising a filter, wherein the chamber element and the cylinder element form a brewing chamber, a main drive for rotating the spinning assembly about the main axis for centrifuging the coffee, wherein the cylinder element including the filter is movable between a first, lower position in which the filter forms the circumference of the brewing chamber and in which the spinning assembly has a brewing configuration, and a second, upper position in which the circumference of the brewing chamber is open, and in which second position coffee residue can be ejected by spinning the chamber element.
NOZZLE AND BEVERAGE PREPARATION MACHINE
A nozzle 20 has a fluid flow passage 26 which defines a fluid flow path from an inlet 5 end of said passage towards an outlet end of said passage. A restrictor 29a is movable under the control of an actuation system 27 relative to the passage to vary the minimum cross-sectional area of the fluid flow path through the passage. The restrictor 29 is moved to project into the passage to provide a restricted opening in the passage or removed from the passage to allow an unrestricted flow through the 10 passage. The nozzle 20 is particularly suitable for use in a beverage preparation machine to generate microfoam in a beverage. When the restrictor 29 is retracted from the passage 29, the passage and the restrictor can be cleaned by flushing the nozzle. The restrictor 29 may be a pin-like member aligned with the passage and moveable parallel to the axis of the passage.
BEVERAGE PREPARATION MACHINE
A beverage preparation machine comprises a fluid circulation system for a fluid substance, at least one container holder adapted for receiving a corresponding ingredient storage container and at least one fluid processing device which is part of the fluid circulation system. The fluid circulation system further comprises at least one fluid source, at least one fluid pump, at least one fluid heating element and at least one fluid circulation conduit. The fluid processing device comprises a fluid processing body comprising in turn at least one inlet means for introducing the fluid substance into the container for the preparation of a beverage product by mixing of the fluid substance with an ingredient contained in the container. The fluid processing body further comprises at least one outlet means for dispensing the beverage product from the container. At least one movement means is provided for separately moving the fluid processing device and the container relatively one to another between a fluid introduction position and a beverage dispensing position. In the fluid introduction position the fluid processing body protrudes inside the internal volume of the container for introducing therein the fluid substance. In the beverage dispensing position the fluid processing body is at least partially withdrawn from the internal volume of the container to allow dispensing of the beverage product from the container through the outlet means. Preferably, the fluid processing body is a needle-shaped fluid processing body comprising at least one end portion configured for perforating, piercing and/or tearing a specific portion or wall of the container before the introduction of the fluid substance into the container.
