HEATED GUIDE TRACK FOR A PRESS MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING A STRIP
A press machine includes a frame, a punch die supported by the frame, a guide track supported by the frame, and a heater coupled to the guide track. The punch die is driven through a punch stroke to punch a strip advanced through the press machine at a punch zone. The guide track has a guide rail forming a guide channel configured to receive the strip. The guide channel is aligned with the punch zone to guide the strip to the punch zone. The heater heats the guide rail to an elevated operating temperature. The guide rail is used for conduction heating of the strip as the strip passes through the guide track.
MICROFRACTURED FILM AND METHOD FOR MAKING
A method for imparting hand-tearability to an organic polymeric film by impinging a multiplicity of ceramic microblades on a major surface of the organic polymeric film. The resulting microfractured organic polymeric film can be used as a hand-tearable tape backing for a hand-tearable adhesive tape.
COEXTRUDED POLYMERIC ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Coextruded polymeric article comprising first segments each having first and second opposed major surfaces and a thickness, the first segments comprising first material; second segments comprising second material, wherein adjacent first segments are joined together via a second segment, wherein the second segments extend from the second major surface past the first major surface of each first adjacent segment and has a distal end, the second segments having first and second oppose sides; first protrusions each extending from the first side of a second segment and extending no more than to the first major surface of the respective first segment adjacent to the second segment, the first protrusions comprising third material; and second protrusions each extending from the first side of a second segment, contacting the first protrusion extending from the second segment and extending not more than to the distal end of the second segment, the second protrusions comprising fourth material, wherein at least one of the second and third or second and fourth materials are different, and wherein the first segments, second segments, first protrusions, and second protrusions each extend continuously for at least 5 mm. Uses for coextruded polymeric articles described herein include adhesive articles and household cleaning products (e.g., a mop, a duster, a brush, a cleaning cloth, or a lint roller).
Extrusion of profiles utilising opposite rotating dies
A device and method enabling industrial continuous pressing, called extrusion of plastically/thermally mouldable substances such as metal, composite metal, plastic, composite or rubber, which is pressed to the profile by a process including a tool fixed member partially predefining the profile shape/cross-section before the profile is finally defined to a cross-section when the material passes rotating dies, which through contact with each other, cancel out main radial forces and the position of which may vary relative to other bearing surfaces or rotary bearing surfaces of the tool with which they define the final shape of the profile. The device and method enable the extrusion of pattern on the inside of hollow profiles and the extrusion of multiple profiles in one tool, because 80-98% of radial bearing forces are eliminated, allowing the installation of rotary dies where not previously possible, and almost unlimited opportunities in increased profile width.
MEDICAL TAPE
In order to provide an elastic medical tape having an especially excellent elastic function and a high effect of alleviating persistent skin irritation during application duration caused by an application-duration shrink force, and applicable to skin that hypersensitively reacts to even insignificant irritation, disclosed is a medical tape for alleviating persistent skin irritation during application duration caused by an application-duration shrink force of an elastic base member of an elastic medical tape, the medical tape including: an elastic base member portion (1) having an elastic function; an adhesive portion (2) having a function of applying and holding the elastic base member portion (1) to skin; and an anti-expansion portion (3) having a function of preventing expansion of the elastic base member portion, the anti-expansion portion (3) overlying the elastic base member portion (1), wherein, after in a manufacturing process, the elastic base member portion (1) and the anti-expansion portion (3) are laminated while the elastic base member portion is in a slacked state or in a not-pulled state, and in the manufacturing process, the elastic base member portion (1) and the anti-expansion portion (3) are laminated while a residual shrink force is not generated in the elastic base member portion (1) in order to reduce the residual shrink force of the elastic base member portion (1), the adhesive portion (2) is applied to skin while preventing expansion of the medical tape, and the anti-expansion portion (3) is then removed.
CARRIER FOR REVERSIBLY IMMOBILIZING ONE OR MORE OBJECTS
A carrier for reversibly immobilizing one or more objects is disclosed. The carrier comprises a frame having a major axis, a top surface, a bottom surface, and one or more openings through the frame along the major axis. The carrier also comprises a film comprising a thermoplastic elastomer material and having a top surface and a bottom surface. The film is attached to the frame based on thermal bonding of the top surface of the film to the bottom surface of the frame, is under tension along the major axis, and is free to flex at the openings. The top surface of the film comprises one or more exposed top surface portions that are accessible through the openings. The exposed top surface portions exhibit a holding force on stainless steel as per ASTM D1000 that is greater than that of the bottom surface of the film.
Method for producing porous articles from alternating poly(ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) and articles produced therefrom
Poly(ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) polymers having an average molecular weight of at least 300,000 g/mol and a melt enthalpy of at least 57 J/g are provided. The ETFE polymer may include at least one additional comonomer. The ETFE polymer is used to form a porous tape or membrane that has a node and fibril structure. A porous ETFE tape may be formed by lubricating the ETFE polymer and subjecting the lubricated polymer to pressure at a temperature below the melting point of the ETFE polymer. Optionally, the ETFE tape may be expanded at a temperature below the melting temperature of the ETFE polymer to form an expanded ETFE membrane. Alternatively, the ETFE polymer may subjected to heat and pressure without the addition of a lubricant to form a dense preform. The dense preform may be subsequently slit in a length direction and stretched to form a dense ETFE fiber.
