Method for micromolding a polymeric membrane having a pore array
A method for micro-molding a polymeric membrane and including pouring a predetermined volume of curable polymer unto a micro-fabricated mold having a post array with pillars, and overlaying the polymer with a support substrate. A spacer, such as a rubber spacer, is placed in contact with the support substrate and a force is applied to an exposed side of the spacer to compress the support substrate and the polymer together. While applying the force, the polymer is cured on the mold for a predetermined time period and at a predetermined temperature to form a polymeric membrane having a pore array with a plurality of pores corresponding to the plurality of pillars of the post array. The polymeric membrane is removed from the support substrate.
Dialyzer manufacturing tool
A dialyzer housing manufacturing system includes a molding device configured to mold a dialyzer housing, and a tool coupled to a robotic arm and configured to retrieve the dialyzer housing from the molding device after the dialyzer housing is molded. The tool includes a frame, a first suction cup connected to a first portion of the frame, and a second suction cup connected to a second portion of the frame, the second suction cup being oriented about 70 degrees to about 110 degrees relative to the first suction cup.
Formed sheet membrane element and filtration system
A piece of substrate material is formed under heat and pressure against a cavity into a shaped substrate sheet having one or more depressions. Two substrate sheets are bonded together to form a substrate wherein the one or more depressions form one or more interior channels. The substrate, if not formed with pre-coated substrate material, is coated with a dope and quenched to form a filtering membrane. A plurality of membranes may be placed side by side to form a bundle with permeating ends of the membrane, which are open to the one or more interior channels, separated by gaps or spacers. The bundle is connected to a header to produce a module. The module can be assembled into a cassette.
Laminated polyolefin microporous membrane including propylene-α-olefin copolymer and method of producing the same
The disclosure provides a laminated polyolefin microporous membrane having propylene-α-olefin copolymer and methods of producing the same. The laminated polyolefin microporous membrane has a two-type three layer structure in which first polyolefin microporous layers are surface layers and a second polyolefin microporous layer is an intermediate layer which is different from the first polyolefin microporous layer.
PROTECTIVE BARRIER COMPRISING A SEAM HAVING AN INTEGRATED DUSTCOVER SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR ITS USE
The present protective barrier is similar to those commonly installed beneath ceilings during construction work being performed on ceilings or roofs of buildings, wherein two or more sections are sewn together to construct the protective barrier. However, the present protective barrier also comprises a dustcover, which covers the seam entirely preventing dust from passing through holes created when the seam is sewn using a thread or similar means.
Forward osmosis membrane for seawater desalination and method for preparing the same
A forward osmosis membrane for seawater desalination and a method for preparing the same. The forward osmosis membrane has a composite membrane structure including a nonwoven fabric layer; a hydrophilic polymer layer; and a polyamide layer. The hydrophilic polymer layer formed on the nonwoven fabric layer facilitates an inflow of water from the feed water to the draw solution to enhance flux and realize high water permeability in the direction of osmosis. The polyamide layer not only secures contamination resistance and chemical resistance but also minimizes the back diffusion of salts of the draw solution in the direction of reverse osmosis. Hence, the forward osmosis membrane of the present invention is greatly useful for desalination of high-concentration seawater.
Articles Produced from VDF-co-(TFE or TrFE) Polymers
VDF-co-(TFE or TrFE) polymers having a molecular weight of at least about 1,000,000 g/mol and a melt temperature less than about 240° C. The VDF copolymer contains at least about 50 mol % VDF monomer and may include an amount of at least one other monomer. The VDF copolymer may be used to form a membrane that has a node and fibril structure. The membrane has a percent porosity of at least 25%. A VDF-co-(TFE or TrFE) polymer membrane may be formed by lubricating the VDF copolymer, subjecting the lubricated polymer to pressure at a temperature below the melting point of the VDF copolymer to form a preform material, and expanding the preform material at a temperature below the melting temperature of the VDF copolymer. Dense VDF copolymer articles, filled VDF copolymer membranes, and VDF copolymer fibers are also provided.
Producing fibers using spinnerets
Systems and methods can be used to produce fibers with external corrugations, internal corrugations, or both. These fibers can be used, for example, in hollow fiber membrane modules.
MEMBRANE WITH MAGNETIC PROPERTIES FOR VERIFICATION OF MEMBRANE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
A method of detecting faults and ensuring integrity of membranes having magnetically functionalized particles, including moving a magnetometer over the membrane to measure at least one magnetic property, mapping the location of the measured properties, identifying anomalies among measured properties including the location of such anomalies, and repairing the membrane at the location where anomalies are identified.
