Isostatic side-pressure shielded composite consolidation
12097647 · 2024-09-24 · ·

A mold for use in the production of a ballistic article from a composite laminate stacked material wherein the mold has a sliding sealing section that nests with a outer permitter section and base portion so as to shield the sides of the composite laminate stacked material from applied isostatic pressure applied when in an autoclave. By shielding the sides of the composite laminate stacked material excess resin matrix material can be forced from the composite laminate stacked material to provide a uniform composite article with reduced weight and reduced thickness.

CUSTOM, USER-SPECIFIC FIREARM GRIP AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
20240343000 · 2024-10-17 ·

Methods for producing custom hand grips that are shaped to fit the hand of a specific user, and custom hand grips produced by the method. A sleeve of moldable material is applied to an internal frame in the shape of the desired handle, forming a moldable hand grip. The user grips the moldable material, deforming the moldable material to be shaped to conform to the hand of the user, forming a molded hand grip. The molded firearm hand grip is then scanned three dimensionally to produce an electronic file(s) containing information defining the exterior shape of the molded firearm grip. The electronic file is then used to produce a custom hand grip by machining and/or additive manufacturing processes. The invention includes methods and structures for all types of hand grips, including but not limited to firearm, sporting equipment and tool hand grips.

Multi-layered mortar tube

A lightweight mortar tube is presented herein having at least three layers: (1) a first inner bore facing layer comprised of a metal having a melting point greater than 800 C.; (2) a second thermal barrier layer comprised of a ceramic material attached to the first layer, and (3) a third outer shell layer attached to the second layer comprising of fiber reinforced composite material where the composite material is either a polymer, metal or ceramic. All of the layers are cohesively integrated with each other into a seamless wall. The improved multi-layered mortar tube described herein is lighter, yet maintains the same performance standards as comparable steel-based mortar tubes.

A method for creating a product and a product mold kit for creating the product may include two halves of a mold casing for at least a portion of a product. The mold casing may include one or more chambers to enable escape of air bubbles. The mold casing may include at least one reservoir for applying downward pressure. The product mold kit may include one or more mold casing parts to create an internal structure of at least the portion of the product by being placed in the two halves of the mold casing. The two halves of the mold casing may be secured together. The two halves of the mold casing, when secured together, may receive resin to a fill point. The two halves of the mold casing may be separated after curing the resin. The resin may be removed from the two halves of the mold casing.

Devices and Methods for Attaching an Arrowhead to an Arrow Shaft

Insert-outsert devices and methods of using those devices to attach an arrowhead to an arrow shaft. The insert-outsert device can be inserted into an arrow shaft, and a threaded end of an arrowhead can be screwed through a hollow threaded portion of the outsert and into the insert. The device structurally reinforces the arrow at a region of connection between the arrow shaft and arrowhead, reducing the likelihood that the arrow shaft will buckle or break under the axial and/or bending forces exerted when an arrow strikes a target.
