Compaction system and methods for compacting composite components
Compaction systems and methods of compacting components are provided. In one aspect, a laminate of a component can be laid up on a tool of a compaction system. The laminate defines a cavity. A noodle is positioned relative to or in the cavity. A noodle ring is then positioned relative to the noodle. For instance, the noodle ring can be placed over the noodle. A cross section of the noodle ring can be shaped complementary to a cross section of the noodle. A plunger of the compaction system is moved so that it engages the noodle ring. Particularly, the plunger is moved in such a way that a force is applied on the noodle ring so that the noodle ring compacts the noodle into the cavity.
Powder packing methods and apparatus
The present disclosure generally relates to powder packing for additive manufacturing (AM) methods and systems. Conventional powder packing methods are manual and non-standardized, and they result in operator fatigue and potentially product inconsistencies. Powder packing according to the present disclosure improves standardization and reduces turnaround time, with the potential to lower the cost of AM.
Powder molding press method of green compact for cutting insert, and powder molding press device
A powder molding press method of a green compact for a cutting insert including: filling a molding space with raw material powder in a state where a lower punch is inserted from below into a hole portion of a die; performing preliminary molding by inserting an upper punch for preliminary molding including a preliminary molding surface having a shape different from a shape obtained by inverting the upper surface of the green compact for a cutting insert in a plane symmetry into the molding space from above such that a thick portion between the upper and lower surfaces in the direction of the insert center line is filled with more raw material powder than a thin portion therebetween, relative to a state before the step of performing the preliminary molding; and inserting an upper punch for final molding into the molding space from above to powder-molding-press the raw material powder.
Installation for producing a coal cake suitable for coking
A method for producing a coal cake that is suitable for coking and for subsequent charging of a coking oven chamber. At least one vibrating station including a push-table vibrating machine with an oscillatorily mounted vibrating table is provided. A mold box is clamped to the vibrating table. The mold box is filled with granular raw coal material. A weight is placed on top of the mold box. The mold box is vertically oscillated while the weight presses from above into the mold box so as to mold a vibration-compacted coal block. The vibration-compacted coal block is pushed off the vibrating table, using an ejector, onto an underlying support. The vibration-compacted coal block is pushed on the underlying support by a length (x) of the vibration-compacted coal block successive to another vibration-compacted coal block. The vibration-compacted coal blocks are successively stacked so as to form the coal cake. The coal cake is introduced into the coking oven chamber using a transporting device.
Method of producing solid material and compression molding machine
The invention provides a method of producing a solid material, and the method includes: applying a light coloring substance to at least one of an inner surface of a die bore, an upper end surface of a lower punch, and a lower end surface of an upper punch; filling a powdery material in the die bore; compression molding the powdery material filled in the die bore with use of the upper punch and the lower punch; and irradiating with light a molded product obtained by the compression molding to color the molded product.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CARBONATE BONDED, PRESS-MOULDED ARTICLE
The carbonate bonded, press-moulded article is produced by press-moulding a particulate, carbonatable material that contains water and by carbonating the obtained compact with carbon dioxide gas. In order to be able to ensure an optimal compressive strength of the article two types of tests are provided. In the first type of test a sample of the particulate material is compressed with an increasing compaction pressure and when water starts to be expelled from the material as from a particular compaction pressure, the press-moulding step is performed with a compaction pressure which is at least 7 MPa smaller than this compaction pressure. In the second type of test different samples of the particulate material are press-moulded with different compaction pressures and, after having released the compaction pressure, the density of the compact is determined. In case this density decreases instead of increases as from a particular compaction pressure, the press-moulding step is performed with a compaction pressure which is smaller than this particular compaction pressure.
Powder press assembly
The assembly comprises a coupling for direct or indirect coupling the core rod (15) to the lower punch (12) of a powder press. The coupling is configured as a magnetic coupling and comprising two coupling elements (20, 30), the first (20) of which is actively connected to the core rod (15) and the second (30) of which is actively connected to the lower punch (12). The magnetic coupling comprises several permanent magnets (24a, 24b, 33a, 33b) arranged at each coupling element. These permanent magnets (24a, 24b, 33a, 33b) are arranged and adapted to each other such that when coupling the two coupling elements (20, 30) the first coupling element (20) is automatically rotated by the effect of the field lines of the magnets (24a, 24b, 33a, 33b) into a predetermined angular position relative to the second coupling element (30).
