A composite container is provided for holding one or more products (e.g., snack foods, toys, etc.) in separate compartments within the same container. The container includes a tubular body defining a first end and a second end, and the tubular body extends radially inward at a predefined location between the first and second ends to form a ledge. A separator, such as a paperboard or plastic disk, can be placed on the ledge, such that the separator defines a first compartment on one side of the separator and a second compartment on the other side of the separator. In this way, a product can be stored in the first compartment, and a product can be stored in the second compartment, and the user can have access to both in the same container. Associated methods of manufacturing a composite container with multiple compartments are also provided.

METHODS AND MACHINE FOR FORMING A TWO-PIECE BLANK ASSEMBLY

A machine for forming a joined blank assembly from first and second blanks of sheet material includes a deck coupled to a frame, and a first transfer assembly associated with the frame. The first transfer assembly is configured to position the first blank on the deck. The machine also includes a second transfer assembly associated with the frame. The second transfer assembly is configured to position the second blank in at least a partially overlying relationship to the first blank on the deck. The machine further includes at least one compression member configured to compress the second blank and the first blank together against the deck to form the joined blank assembly.

Methods and systems for producing pressware

A system for forming a pressware product comprises rollers, a scoring tool, a scoring station actuator, a forming tool, and a forming station actuator. The rollers pull the web along a path having an angle. The scoring tool receives the material from the rollers and includes a vertically shiftable scoring punch with an edge that extends about an outline of the pressware product and a striker plate. The scoring station actuator shifts the scoring tool to form a slot in the web. The forming tool receives the scored web and includes a vertically shiftable positive mold assembly and negative mold assembly. The forming station actuator shifts the positive mold assembly to press against the web and form the pressware product.

Paperboard container having increased rigidity and method of manufacturing thereof

The invention relates to pressed paperboard containers, such as disposable paper plates and bowls, having increased strength and rigidity, and the processes used to form such containers by the formation of non-radial pleats at outer regions of the container. The invention also provides pleats about the outer periphery that are non-linear along the length of the pleat. Such non-radial and non-linear pleats are formed by forming non-radial and non-linear scores in a blank of paperboard converted into the container geometry.

In some embodiments, a method of manufacturing a paper-based packaging product includes conditioning a paper web to optimize a moisture content of the paper web and to treat the paper web with at least one additive to form a conditioned paper web; and dry molding the conditioned paper web under one or both of heat and pressure to produce a plurality of finished paper-based packaging products.
