A cup having a bottom and a sidewall attached to the bottom, wherein the sidewall preferably comprises a rolled rim at its upper edge opposite to the bottom, wherein the sidewall comprises a single layer or a plurality of layers, wherein at least one of the layers is produced from a paper or carton material, wherein at least one shaping is shaped into at least one of the layers of the sidewall, wherein the shaping is at least partially ring-shaped, wherein the shaping extends at least partially over the perimeter of the sidewall, wherein the shaping is inwardly or outwardly directed, wherein the shaping is compressed in height such that an edge of the shaping touches an opposite segment of the shaping and/or that both edges of the shaping touch each other and are joined together.

Method of producing a stacking projection and corresponding tool

In a method of producing a stacking projection and a corresponding tool a mandrel as part of the tool is inserted into a cup, wherein the mandrel comprises a receiving recess. The bottom part of the cup is then supported by a supporting tool and a collet is assigned to a region of the cup where the stacking projection is to be formed. Thereafter, at least a part of the collet is pressed radially inwardly in direction to the receiving recess such that a portion of the cup wall is pressed into the receiving recess to form the stacking projection. Simultaneously, the height of the cup is reduced by displacing the mandrel and/or the supporting tool with respect to the other in axial direction. Finally, pressure applied to the collet is released and the cup is removed with the mandrel from the collet and the supporting tool. By such method and corresponding tool the stretching of the wall material is avoided as well as any defect of an inner layer of polymer of this material and simultaneously the method of production and corresponding tool are simplified or of simply construction and can be used for high production rates of corresponding cups.

Funnel component and manufacturing method for manufacturing packaging container using funnel component

A funnel component is manufactured by the following processes: forming a first intermediate product that is tapered, by rolling the blank material; forming a second intermediate product by folding back and welding a narrow opening side portion of the first intermediate product; forming a third intermediate product having the side wall portion by folding the wide opening side portion of the second intermediate product back outward; forming a cylindrical discharge portion forming the narrow opening side portion, a first tapered portion that connects to the discharge portion and has a tapered shape, and a second tapered portion that has a tapered shape having a taper angle less than the first tapered portion, by performing a drawing process on the third intermediate product.

PAPER-BASED COMPOSITE CONTAINER FOR OFF-GASSING PRODUCTS, AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME

A substantially paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal so as to establish fluid communication between an interior of the composite container and the environment outside the composite container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

METHOD TO FORM A STACKING SHOULDER INTO THE SIDEWALL OF A CUP WITH A ROTATING TOOL
