Seals for stretchable films
In one example, a plastic product such as a plastic bag includes one or more seals. One of the seals includes respective portions of first and second plastic films that are arranged one on top of the other. The respective portions are joined together and are aligned generally parallel to a direction of elongation associated with the plastic films, where the direction of elongation is a direction in which the plastic films elongate when under load. As well, the respective portions extend along a length of the joined plastic films and have a length that is greater than a length of the plastic films.
Production of airtight packages with side gussets
The present invention relates to a method for making airtight packages (100) made of flexible material that are configured to seal an environment inside the package with respect to an external environment, said packages (100) comprising a front panel (1), a back panel (2) and two side gussets (3, 4) provided at opposite ends of the front panel (1) and of the back panel (2) so as to connect the front panel (1) to the back panel (2). The method comprises a first step of folding a sheet (60) made of flexible material along two first fold lines (L1) which are mutually parallel so as to form a tubular element (61). Moreover, the method comprises a second step that consists in folding an end portion of the tubular element (61) along two second fold lines (L2) that are oblique with respect to the direction of the first fold lines (L1) so as to form an end portion of the tubular element (61) that has two triangular portions (6, 7) having two mutually parallel sides (8, 9) and having a distance between each other equal to twice a first predetermined distance (D1). In addition, the present invention also comprises a machine (200) which allows using such method and a package that can be made by means of such method and such machine.
THERMOPLASTIC FILMS WITH COMPLEX STRETCH PATTERNS
A thermoplastic film which exhibits elastic-like behavior along at least one axis when stretched or elongated and then released. The thermoplastic film comprises a plurality of raised rib-like elements extending in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the thermoplastic film. The thermoplastic film further includes a plurality of web areas positioned about the plurality of raised rib-like elements. The plurality of raised rib-like elements and plurality of web areas are arranged in a complex pattern. The complex pattern provides visual and tactile cues as the films are stretched or elongated. The complex pattern can cause the thermoplastic film to have a complex stretch profile.
Films and bags with billow pockets for capturing liquids
A multiple-ply thermoplastic film which exhibits elastic-like behavior along at least one axis when stretched or elongated and then released. The complex pattern, when stretched or elongated and then released, can cause areas of billowing and delamination between plies of the multiple-ply thermoplastic film. The resulting billowed and delaminated areas form billow pockets for capturing liquids that can capture liquids when one of the plies is punctured.

The complex pattern can cause the thermoplastic film to have a complex stretch profile.
INSULATION PRODUCTS AND METHODS AND MACHINES FOR MAKING INSULATION PRODUCTS
A machine for making insulation may include two or more rotatory members configured to pull a precut insulation product at a first rate, wherein the precut insulation product comprises a first paper layer, a second paper layer, and a continuous paper core sheet, a first restraint and a second restraint spaced apart a predetermined distance to create a first space therebetween, and two or more second rotary members configured to feed a continuous paper sheet at a second rate into the first space such that the continuous paper sheet forms a plurality of flexible loops defining a plurality of air channels that extend in a direction that is substantially perpendicular with a machine direction. The first rate may be slower than the second rate.
THERMOPLASTIC BAGS WITH COMPLEX STRETCH PATTERNS
Method of manufacturing headerless produce bags with increased adhesion
During the manufacturing process the exterior surface of one or both of the sheets of plastic film which form the bags is treated with low temperature corona discharge plasma to raise the level of surface charge magnitude to at least 43 Dyne to increase the adhesion force between the bags. A recess is formed in each of the bags to further increase the adhesion. The increased adhesion causes the mouth of one bag to automatically open as the adjacent bag is removed from the rack. The recess is formed at the same time openings are created in the bags to accept the support rods of a dispensing rack. The bags can have simple edge sides or side gussets and may be provided in a package including a pouch which receives and supports the lower portions of the bags.
PROTECTIVE PRODUCTS SUCH AS ENVELOPES HAVING A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF INTERIOR PADDING OF EXPANDED SLIT SHEET PAPER AND EXTERIOR LINING OF EMOSSED PAPER
A protective product, such as, e.g., an envelope or pouch, is provided that includes at least one expanded slit paper sheet in an expanded state, and an embossed paper sheet facing the expanded slit paper sheet and fixed to the expanded slit paper sheet along at least a portion of a length in an expansion direction of the expanded slit sheet paper. In the preferred embodiments, the embossed paper sheet has a plurality of embossings that increase the rigidity of the embossed paper sheet, thereby inhibiting deformation of the embossed paper sheet that is fixed to the expanded slit sheet paper.
Bag making apparatus and method for making plastic bag
A first sheet panel is folded along a first fold line, and thereby a first folded part is formed in the first sheet panel. Subsequently, the first folded part is folded back along a second fold line, and thereby a folded-back part is formed in the first sheet panel. A corner cut device cuts a second sheet panel and the folded-back part to form corner cut parts. At this time, the corner cut device prevents the first folded part and a base part of the first sheet panel from being cut.
